Director of Conservation Programs—Great Plains Region (Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming)
Ducks Unlimited seeks a hardworking, experienced professional to lead habitat conservation programs in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. Duty location is negotiable between Grand Island, Nebraska or Fort Collins, Colorado. This position reports to the Director of Operations for the Great Plains Region.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Conservation Programs position provides leadership to both DU and the broader waterfowl management community. In addition to directing and managing conservation programs to deliver DU’s strategic and operational goals in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming, incumbent will serve as a member of the Great Plains Region Management Team, advise the Conservation Leadership Team on national conservation and policy efforts, and encourage and facilitate the work of a broad coalition of conservation partners throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
Qualifications:
- Education: minimum of a B.S. in Wildlife Biology or equivalent degree in a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: at least 10 years of experience in conservation program evaluation, development, and implementation, including at least 5 years of management and leadership experience.
Specific Duties include:
- Provide strategic direction and management support to professional staff who deliver habitat conservation programs, including habitat protection, restoration and enhancement projects.
- Coordinate conservation program development and implementation with other conservation organizations, agency partners and interested stakeholders to maximize impact.
- Secure public funding to support priority conservation programs.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming to help develop and deliver scientific evaluations, public policy objectives, strategic communications, and philanthropic fundraising initiatives.
- Serve as a member of the Great Plains Region Management Team to help provide strategic direction for the region, assist in key decisions, and help develop staff technical and leadership skills.
