POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Social Media, the Social Media Specialist supports both social media strategy and content production by providing creative guidance and knowledge in photo/video for the brand, contributing to execution strategies for Ikon Pass and Alterra social channels, and serving as a knowledgeable resource to owned resort properties and third party brand partners. The social media team works with both a larger cross-functional internal Marketing Department and also supports the social media & content production teams at each of Alterra Mountain Company’s mountain destinations and Ikon Pass partners.
This Specialist must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient in design, copywriting, photography and/or video editing, project management, creative brainstorming, and multi-tasking. This role will work closely with our creative & design teams to execute social media campaigns, but will also often require Photoshop, Premiere, and Lightroom skills to quickly edit content on their own for social media while understanding how content should be adapted to emerging social media platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to social media strategies organizing sponsorship content plans in collaboration with Social Media Director to drive engagement and brand awareness.
Provide knowledge on social media trends, outdoor industry, and ski industry social media / content ideas and influence social calendars for Ikon Pass, Alterra, resorts, and partners
Perform branded campaigns through collaboration with graphic designer and copywriter to ensure that brand standards are upheld, high quality photo and video selections are made, and content is on brand and serve the purpose of selling Ikon Passes and our destinations
Participate in group meetings with social media managers and content producers among Alterra Mountain Company destination teams, to recommend enhancements related to brand partnership social execution and content or production needs
Contribute to a holistic enterprise marketing strategy by strengthen relationships with other key marketing areas and providing insight into how these channels integrate with social content (Brand, Blog, CRM, App, Partnership)
Contribute to the team's agenda by brainstorming shot lists, deliverables direction, editing content media in Lightroom, Photoshop, or Premier as needed in collaboration with the content creator team, freelancers and athlete/influencer management teams coordinating content usage, campaign allocation, and content strategy recommendations
Provide on-site support during content-generated photo and video shoots for social media
Generate social media reporting to understand what content performs well, where opportunities exist, and analyze and report on social media metrics to lead to success across the brand and develop follow-up content
Support destination social media managers with the purpose of receiving content, providing best practices, and collaborating on larger campaign ideas
Present innovative new content ideas, and have a pulse on what content is working or trending, to Director of Social/Content and/or Partnerships team on a regular basis
Supports the Social Media Specialist with publishing to social channels as needed during high volume times
Provide backup support for resort & Ikon Pass social media teams, with understanding of content best practices, calendar, scheduling content, managing inboxes, generating reporting or insights during times of crisis or deadlines
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or otherwise equivalent, and 1-3 years of experience working in social media
Social media experience with outdoor products/brands or services preferred
Solid experience with all social media platforms is required (note: this is a content role, not a paid advertising role)
Strong teamwork, collaboration skills and flexibility required; eagerness to work among multiple teams in many locations
Working knowledge of Adobe Suites, Photoshop, and Premiere
Knowledge of formatting, best practices, and aspect ratios for all social platforms
Confident ability to provide creative feedback to a team
Multi-tasking ability, strong project management/planning skills, and a deadline-oriented mindset
Ability to receive and absorb constructive feedback to their work
Strong attention-to-detail, self-starter, and creative brainstormer
Eagerness to work amongst multiple teams
Willingness to work on mountain in snowy conditions
Confident skier or snowboarder
Previous knowledge, or interest in learning: Sprout Social, Pixlee, Shortstack, Airtable, Meltwater, Later/Mavrck
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of the Company’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $58,000 - $81,000 per year
