Position Summary

The Data Analyst for the Academies at National University (NU) is dedicated to conducting advanced mixed-methods data analysis to enhance the Academies programs, including Harmony Curriculum, Harmony Professional Learning, and Fundraising Academy initiatives. This role supports continuous improvement efforts by analyzing program usage, learning outcomes, and user engagement data, while providing insights for product development and educator training programs. The Data Analyst plays a key role in impact evaluations, research-practice partnerships, and comprehensive data analytics across the organization, including developing research summaries, creating data visualizations, and supporting pilot and efficacy studies.

The Data Analyst collaborates closely with the Research, Product, & Technology leadership team, offering expertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, survey design, and educational technology evaluation. Working with other team members at the Academies, the Data Analyst ensures the robust implementation and fidelity of relationship-driven programs to meet the needs of educators, students, families, OST staff, and fundraisers. Additionally, this role supports project management efforts, ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders, adherence to research timelines, and clear data reporting.

The Data Analyst leverages the latest evidence in SEL, teaching, and learning to support research initiatives, provide feedback for product development, and generate reports and briefs that guide decision-making. This role contributes to the continuous improvement of Academies’ programs and tools through rigorous data analysis and actionable insights.

Essential Functions:

Research & Data Analytics

  • Analyze data from research studies, including educational outcomes, as well as usage data from the Harmony Online Portal and app, to evaluate student engagement, SEL outcomes, and program efficacy.
  • Assess platform usage data from Harmony Professional Learning and D2L on the Harmony and Fundraising Certificates to identify trends in participation, course completion rates, and engagement patterns.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings that inform curriculum enhancements and professional development strategies, while also providing key reports and insights for Academy leadership.
  • Evaluate qualitative data from case studies, focus groups, interviews, and pilot studies related to the Harmony Curriculum, Harmony Professional Learning, and Fundraising Academy, identifying key insights for product iteration.
  • Conduct thematic analysis of user feedback to drive improvements in course offerings and user support.
  • Integrate qualitative insights with quantitative findings to provide a holistic view of program impact.
  • Create clear and actionable data reports for internal and external stakeholders, translating complex analyses into practical insights for educators and product developers.
  • Ensure effective execution of tasks needed for research grants, including partnership with content teams, support development of tools, review of literature, etc.
  • Develop and maintain automated dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) across Harmony Curriculum, Harmony Professional Learning, and Fundraising Academy initiatives.
  • Partner with the operations team and leadership team to produce needed data reports, using data visualization techniques.

Project Management

  • Assist in the design and execution of research projects, including pilot studies and formative evaluations, ensuring that data collection methodologies are rigorous and aligned with research goals.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely completion of research tasks, clear communication of results, and the integration of data-driven insights into program development.
  • Collaborate with external evaluators to ensure that data collection processes and evaluation efforts align with internal goals and timelines (e.g., supporting recruitment, IRB submissions, etc.).
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support the design and implementation of research studies and data collection processes.
  • Collaborate with educators and product teams to ensure data-driven insights guide program and product improvements.
  • Support the development of survey tools, assessments, and research methodologies.
  • Support grant submissions to support the research on existing and new products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Educational Research, or a related field, required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in data analysis, preferably in an educational, nonprofit, or research environment required.
  • Experience in social and emotional development, equity, or culturally responsive practices preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred.
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., D2L, Canvas) and user engagement metrics.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, Python, SPSS, or similar software.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio).
  • Strong understanding of qualitative data analysis techniques and tools (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, survey design, and evaluation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:

Annual Salary: $50,790.00 - $68,570.00
