ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY  

The Senior Manager, Data Visualization & Reporting is responsible for developing, maintaining, and refining the data visualizations and reporting NP Digital makes available to clients. Data visualizations and reports are used by a variety of stakeholders to report, analyze and find insights for marketing performance. To be successful, the Senior Manager, Data Visualization & Reporting must collaborate with marketing professionals across the agency and client stakeholders. 

Applying design thinking, product development, and engineering best practices, the successful candidate for this role approaches dashboards as data products with release cycles, feature development, support and training services, governance, and a deep understanding of the end user. 

The successful candidate understands the end-to-end development workflow from backend to frontend needed to ultimately produce a meaningful reporting experience for end users. Based on that understanding, the successful candidate can directly demonstrate to end users how to use data visualizations and reports to make data-driven decisions. 

Candidates must reside or be eligible to work in the US.  

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES  

Report directly into the Senior Director, Data, Analytics & Insights to lead the data visualization and reporting operations as part of NP Digital’s Data, Analytics and Insights team: 

  • Consult with managers and strategists across CRO, SEO, Content, Paid Media and other marketing experts for how best to visualize, convey, and interact with their data
  • Own and execute data visualization and reporting operations initiatives:
    • new development of working dashboards, roadmaps and specifications for new use cases or data sources
    • maintenance operations for updating, deprecating, and refactoring existing dashboards without breakage or reduced availability
    • release strategy for tracking and communicating changes to all end users
    • monitoring to assure data quality and usage
    • governance to ensure proper user access and security
    • user support and training across the agency and with clients to empower their usage
  • Directly reproduce and maintain our current dashboards with our data technology stack
  • Identify data anomalies (such as deviations from expected or historical data, discrepancies  between platforms, missing data)  in the dashboards
  • Resolve data anomalies with the appropriate team in a timely manner to maintain availability of dashboards
  • Document all updates, changes, and issues such that dashboards are properly versioned and issues can be reverted
  • Develop and maintain data visualization design systems and guidelines for our dashboards and reporting to ensure consistency and scalability across clients and teams
  • Evaluate when and how new features should be incorporated into global templates or when custom, one-offs are needed – balancing tradeoffs across stakeholders, use cases, and efforts

ABOUT YOU  

  • You understand dashboards as dynamic front-end user interfaces for various data work (from exploration to explanatory)
  • You apply design and user experience principles (visual consistency, data-ink ration, grid systems) to justify and improve their design so that analysts can easily navigate and use the dashboards
  • With a product orientation, you implement systems and ongoing processes to ensure that the dashboards can scale, are consistent, and maintain their quality throughout many changes in their lifecycle with documentation, training, and user research
  • As an analyst being grounded in the digital marketing and analytics datasets, you can assess anomalies (from abnormal, inconsistent, irregular or discrepant data) and recommend solutions or improvements that immediately help marketers use the dashboards
  • As a visualization expert, you can write, diagram, and create documentation that clarifies dashboarding task dependencies and workflows so that any dashboard can be reproduced consistently, checked for quality

ABOUT YOUR REQUIREMENTS  

  • Extensive years in marketing analytics roles with some management responsibilities involving direct reports.
  • Experience communicating with marketers and broad business stakeholders on how to use the dashboards aligned with common marketing use cases
  • Technical writing skills and visual communication to be able to formally specify and communicate dashboard requirements to data engineers as well as designers: technical specifications, wireframes, working prototypes, and design guidelines and checklists
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Google Looker Studio and PowerBI needed to create dashboards
  • Preferred broad fluency in other visualization and dashboarding platforms to be able to replicate any visualization consistently across platforms including GA4 or Adobe Analytics
  • Preferred experience with Google Cloud Platform especially BigQuery
  • Education, training or real-life experience in foundational statistics, specifically exploratory data analysis, descriptive statistics and data visualization
  • Preferred foundational graphic design knowledge and skills with grid systems, typography, color theory
  • Referenceable examples of reports and visualization deliverables that you’ve contributed to

ABOUT THE COMPENSATION 

  • Base Salary: USD $115,000.00 to $135,000.00; depending on experience and skills
  • Discretionary annual bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary
