Human Resources Business Partner – Employee Relations Focus

The Human Resources Business Partner is a key strategic role responsible for providing expert employee relations (ER) support to both hourly workforce and their leaders across the Field Operations organization. This role requires a deep understanding of labor laws, employee relations best practices, and the ability to navigate complex situations to foster a positive work environment. The HRBP will work closely with management to align HR strategies with business goals while ensuring a fair, consistent, and compliant approach to employee relations.

Travel expectation:  30% - 40%

Location:  this is a remote position, and can be located anywhere in the continental US, and close to an airport. 

  • Employee Relations Support:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and performance management for hourly workers and general managers.
    • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and allegations, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to company policies and legal requirements, escalating and partnering with other HR colleagues or Legal when necessary.
    • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on addressing employee performance, behavior, and attendance issues.
    • Provide training and development programs for managers on effective employee relations practices, conflict resolution, and performance management.
    • Support and facilitation of leave management, including ADA interactive process and collaboration with Total Rewards team and Worker’s Compensation.
  • Labor Law Compliance:
    • Stay current on federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, ensuring the company’s policies and practices are consistent and compliant.
    • Advise management on legal implications of ER issues and recommended actions to mitigate risks.
    • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures that reflect current labor laws and best practices.
  • Collaboration and Partnership:
    • Partner with other HR functions, including recruitment, compensation, and benefits, to ensure a holistic approach to employee management.
    • Work closely with general managers to understand their business needs and provide tailored HR support. Partner in driving a safety-focused culture.
    • Partner with leaders to foster a positive, solution-focused culture by supporting strategies that promote collaboration, employee engagement, and effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and managerial staff in a multi-site environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, employment regulations, and ER best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to work in both an office environment and in our depot (warehouse) locations.

Preferred

  • Highly preferred:  Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
