About the role:

We are seeking a Technical Director to lead the technology strategy within our Digital Experience Technology (DET) capability. This role requires deep marketing technology expertise, particularly in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and strong leadership across multidisciplinary teams. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver strategic marketing technology solutions within the pharmaceutical space. The ideal candidate will balance strategic and tactical initiatives, delivering innovative digital experiences while aligning with client goals and business requirements.

Our DET offerings include full-stack software/platform development, business analysis, quality assurance, managed services, and marketing/digital operations. The Technical Director will play a key role in ensuring continuous success and satisfaction for clients.

What you'll do:
  • Client Satisfaction & Growth: Ensure client satisfaction, driving both existing business and new opportunities. Develop strong relationships with client IT, marketing, customer experience, and promotional review teams.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical expert on the client’s marketing stack, with a focus on AEM. Lead the technology strategy and architecture for digital solutions, collaborating with internal Technical Architects and the client’s IT teams.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary teams, including account managers, project managers, business analysts, UX, creative, strategy, and QA professionals. Promote team collaboration to deliver projects aligned with client goals.
  • Collaboration & Strategy: Partner with internal teams and clients to identify opportunities for optimizing marketing technology, providing technical expertise to shape client strategies. Collaborate with engagement strategists, UX, and creative teams to deliver best-in-class user experiences.
  • Project Oversight & Delivery: Lead the successful delivery of digital marketing solutions, ensuring projects meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations. Accurately estimate projects and manage scope documentation.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the DET capability’s continuous improvement, bringing innovative ideas and ensuring the team stays ahead of digital marketing trends and technologies.
  • Process Adherence: Ensure adherence to software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, working closely with business analysts and product owners to translate client requirements into technical solutions.
  • Team Development: Mentor and manage team members, fostering a collaborative environment where people are motivated to do their best. Maintain the right-sized DET personnel across projects.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners to ensure seamless integration of third-party tools and platforms.
  • Technical Documentation & Best Practices: Drive adherence to industry best practices in design, development, and implementation while maintaining a forward-thinking perspective on emerging trends.
  • Interactions (External and Internal):
  • External: Collaborate with client marketing, IT, CX teams, third-party vendors, and external agencies.
  • Internal: Work closely with the Digital Experience Technology Team and cross-functional marketing and medical teams to deliver solutions.

  • About you:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of work experience in marketing technology, IT, or software development, ideally within the life sciences industry.
  • 5+ years of leading complex technology projects.
  • Proven experience working with AEM and delivering omnichannel marketing solutions.
  • Expertise in digital marketing technologies and platforms such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and databases.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG) best practices and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading client meetings, presentations, and new business efforts.
  • Experience working within agile methodologies like Scrum or Waterfall.
  • Pharmaceutical or creative agency experience is a plus.
