As seasoned Director of Engineering to lead and manage the Quality Engineering (QE) Automation and Performance Engineering teams. The QE Automation team is responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive QA infrastructure that automates test suites from multiple teams at regular intervals and provides detailed dashboards/reports for QA test results. The Performance Engineering team will be focused on performance tuning efforts, ensuring the product is highly efficient, scalable, and optimized for peak performance. This leadership role requires deep expertise in test automation, quality engineering, and performance optimization, as well as the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and manage both the QA Automation and Performance Engineering teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.Provide technical guidance and career development opportunities to team members, encouraging growth and expertise in quality and performance engineering.Promote collaboration between the two teams and other engineering functions to ensure integrated efforts across the product lifecycle.Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of a robust QA infrastructure that integrates test suites from multiple development teams and invokes them at regular intervals (e.g., daily, per sprint, or based on CI/CD triggers).Ensure the infrastructure provides automated reports and dashboards that offer real-time visibility into test execution, results, and product quality metrics.Collaborate with product teams to ensure test coverage, test reliability, and effective bug detection through automation.Lead the Performance Engineering team in the development and execution of performance tests, load tests, and stress tests to ensure the product meets scalability, reliability, and speed requirements.Oversee all performance tuning efforts, identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing optimizations to improve system throughput, latency, and resource usage.Ensure performance testing is integrated into the development process, providing continuous feedback to development teams and ensuring that performance is a key consideration in product design and release cycles.Collaborate with development teams, DevOps, and product management to ensure that automated test suites and performance tests are aligned with product goals and customer requirements.Work closely with DevOps to integrate both QA automation and performance testing into the CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth and automated execution of tests for continuous integration and deployment.Ensure that all test results, including performance metrics, are effectively communicated to stakeholders via detailed dashboards and reports.Define and implement the test automation strategy to ensure comprehensive test coverage, including functional, regression, and performance testing.Drive innovation in test automation tools, frameworks, and methodologies to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability of automated testing.Ensure automated tests are designed and executed to identify potential performance and quality issues early in the development cycle.Oversee the design and implementation of performance monitoring tools and processes to ensure continuous tracking of system performance in production and test environments.Establish performance benchmarks and continuously measure product performance against these benchmarks.Lead root cause analysis of performance issues and drive performance improvement initiatives to ensure the product meets high standards for user experience.Ensure that QA dashboards and reports provide actionable insights into test results, product quality, and performance metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels.Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track team performance, test coverage, test execution efficiency, and performance improvements over time.Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.10+ years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, performance engineering, or software development, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above).Proven experience in building and managing test automation frameworks and performance engineering strategies for complex software products.Strong track record of integrating test automation and performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensuring continuous testing and performance monitoring.Experience with cloud platforms and performance optimization for cloud-based products.
