At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Project Engineering Manager at our Bristol, or Harrogate site.

You will lead a team of engineers, working on an exciting international project for New Zealand through its build, integration, transition, and acceptance phases, ensuring compliance with appropriate engineering governance for the lifecycle and best practice.

Your successful delivery of this will allow armed forces a solution for delivering wideband High Frequency (HF) Beyond Line-of-Sight communications allowing up-to-date tactical pictures of the battlespaces to be shared, speeding up the ‘sense, decide, effect’ for armed forces.

Day-to-day, you’ll oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of all engineering activities, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in line with the project lifecycle. Additionally, you’ll ensure that all processes and deliverables meet the highest quality standards, aligning with product quality and safety goals. You will also:

  • Ensure technical outcomes are assessed, planned and delivered against requirements in accordance with a robust Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering operations.
  • Track and report on engineering activity in support of project performance indicators (PIs) and maintain alignment of outputs with Head of Department, Programme and Project Managers.

This is a full-time position (37 hours per week) with hybrid working arrangements, allowing for two to three days in the office/on-site and days working from home. The role includes travel to New Zealand over the next 12 months for integration activities, as well as travel to UK sites.
