Manager Engineering Blue Robotics

For our headquarters in the Netherlands, we are seeking a seasoned Manager Engineering Blue Robotics to ensure processes, tools and resources are co-ordinated to successfully deliver on the required designs and developments of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) and electric Remote Operated Vehicles (eROVs) within our organization.  The primary impact of this role is to lead and manage multiple engineering teams, ensure timely delivery and high-quality engineering deliverables, and implement robust processes to support the development and operationalization of innovative USV and eROV technologies.

As the Manager Engineering Blue Robotics at Fugro, you are responsible for the performance of the multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Your role focuses on the people on the teams have the right capabilities and will work together with the Director Blue Robotics and Innovation Director to make optimal use of people’s skills across different teams and priorities. You build an innovative environment and culture with a delivery mindset where people can grow. This role requires a thorough understanding of the technologies and knowledge required for our USV and eROV developments

We invite you to step into the role of Manager Engineering Blue Robotics based in the Netherlands. This position is also tailored for those who have honed their skills as R&D or Innovation Manager.  

Your role:

  • You ensure team follows Fugro’s standard engineering, design and software development processes;
  • You review and approve development plans and time estimates;
  • You are responsible for effective resource scaling up & down if required;
  • You coach teams in Agile/OKR work practices and to become more effective;
  • You work with Director Blue Robotics, Innovation Director and Team Leads to assure the right composition of people and talent in the engineering teams;
  • You liaise with external innovation organisations to promote Fugro and attract new talent.

Your track record

  • You have a MSc. or BSc. degree in an industry associated engineering discipline, preferable in robotics, and significant experience in management (5+ years);
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills;
  • Well versed in the Agile methodology with 5+ years of experience;
  • Ability to effectively share the ‘wisdom’’ that comes from the required work experience;
  • Proven experience in influencing and inspiring diverse groups of people sitting across various geographic locations to work as team;
  • A consistent track record of effective leadership;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, encompassing both verbal and written proficiency.
