Summary of Job Responsibilities
The tax internship position within the Corporate Finance and Accounting division of The Standard involves a wide range of duties and activities. The goal of the internship is to experience the life of a tax accountant and gain skills to prepare the student for a successful career in taxation. The demand for tax professionals is growing due to several factors, so there are numerous opportunities for long-term success in a tax career. Activities for the tax internship at The Standard include:
- aid in the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations (ASC 740)
- preparation of federal and state income tax returns
- preparation of tax adjustment workpapers
- tax related account reconciliations
- premium tax, sales and use and property tax returns or workpapers preparation
- support or preparation of daily tax withholding deposits with federal and state government entities
- preparation of quarterly information returns and analysis
- processing tax related payments and recording of tax related journal entries
- process improvement projects
- observation and meeting with executive leadership
- other duties as assigned.
During the duration of the internship the candidate will be assigned to one manager to oversee their day-to-day work, however, there may be opportunities to work with several different members within the tax department. The work will be conducted in an all-virtual remote environment.

- Undergrad or graduate student studying accounting or finance

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
