Position: New Business Development Manager – OEM Lithium-Ion

Report to Title: Sr. Director, Portfolio Strategy – Motive

Location: Remote

Date: November 2024

Position Overview

You will work with leading customers and partners to understand and position advanced power products and next generation technology. This role will drive new business opportunities and sales by building relationships, educating, and promoting our products and technology, and supporting local decision-makers in selecting C&D/Trojan Battery as their preferred solution.

Areas of Focus

The New Business Development Manager will drive product lithium portfolio opportunities in the Americas by:

- Supporting relationships to better understand current and future applications and market segments.

- Delivering profitable growth within new strategic accounts and opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively work with Market OEM Leaders and OEM National Account Managers to drive business development and growth for next generation technologies
  • Identify and target new customers and market segments in the Lithium space with both sales and product management team.
  • Represent the voice of the customer to contribute to innovation by providing customer feedback as it relates to product application, technical specifications, delivery, quality and service.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, services and other requirements.
  • Utilize lead generation tools from the marketing team to engage with customers and prospects.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key OEMs with in the stationary and/or motive markets.
  • Capture technical feedback from prospective customers and work with marketing, product management, and engineering to further engage and qualify opportunities.
  • Attending tradeshows and industry events to uncover new account opportunities, applications and market segments.
  • Lead the development of additional sales channels to support growth objectives.
  • Provide elevated technical sales support for the existing OEM network and new OEMs to Trojan.
  • Develop “Customer Action Plan” while gathering customer data, emerging market trends, leading indicators to facilitate and meet sales objectives, including monthly and annual forecast updates.

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or relevant experience combined with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical sales and new business development role.
  • The ability to travel frequently within North America as required 50%.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented, persuasive, and able to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience developing new customer or market segments.
  • Sales Force and LinkedIn Navigator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lithium-Ion and/or battery sales experience
  • New business development experience
