The Job:
As a Operation Director, you’ll be part of our Industrial Global Supply Chain team working as a remote employee. You’ll get to:
- As the Operations Director – SEF Industrial, you will oversee the Hopkinsville, KY and Stanfield, NC facilities.
- Partner with the Sr Operations Director – Global Industrial and apply your proven experience to determine efficiency goals and opportunities for waste elimination, equipment uptime improvement, manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction within the factory locations and distribution centers (DC).
- Embody the mindset of ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are achieved/exceeded to consistently meet/beat monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.
- Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
- Ensure the continued evolution of the customer experience by achieving On Time in Full (OTIF) deliveries through proper Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) and Production Master Scheduling, achieving/beating Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) targets, and collaborating with Product Engineering and the customer to find opportunities to innovate.
- Collaborate with all appropriate matrixed functional business partners in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and develop a continuous improvement mindset/culture across the organization by leading site level studies in cost management techniques for productivity enhancement and operational process improvement.
- Monitor established site KPIs for span of responsibility, develop any additional site level KPIs needed and manage major projects to drive improvement in process metrics to achieve company cost reduction goals. Delivers progress and production reports to leadership team members as needed.
- Improve teamwork and the employee experience by providing direct leadership, mentorship, and development to Plant Managers, direct reports and dotted line matrix reports.
- Organizes management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of operations leaders and conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Lead the CAPEX implementation and ROI reporting across sites within span of responsibility through identification, proposal, execution, and measurement of projects in support of Stanley Black and Decker’s strategy.
- Ensure optimization of available resources through capacity planning and continuous improvement to maximize productivity.
- Drive best in class manufacturing capabilities which will focus on gaining efficiencies through optimizing product production at multiple plants, optimizing process flow, automation, overhead absorption, continuous improvement and instilling best practices.
- Work with matrixed business functional partners in the development of financial and budgetary plans.

- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Management, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years' prior experience successfully managing a variety of departments including some combination OPEX, CAPEX, Procurement, Project Management, Quality, Safety, and Maintenance.
- Experience leading operations in a decentralized, multi-site manufacturing organization.
- Experience managing union manufacturing sites.
- Prior experience in capital expenditure management, capital approval processes, and installations.
- Ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Proven presentation skills and ability to interact successfully with multiple levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30 to 50%).
