New, game-changing ideas and continuous improvement have been part of our DNA since 1834. Together, we can create new business opportunities and more sustainable future that we can all be proud of.

We want to transition the world towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. By pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, we can make it work. We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent – want to join the ride?

Do you have an interest in troubleshooting and analysing the performance of four-stroke engines? Then this job may be for you. We are now looking for a Remote Diagnostics Expert, Four-Stroke Engines to join our team.

We are a team of more than 20 experts who follow the condition of Wärtsilä four-stroke engines. We utilize the digital tool "Expert Insight", which highlights deviations from the expected behaviour of the engine type. Data from engine sensors come from the field via an internet connection and the digital tool uses both artificial intelligence and rules set up by engine experts. The engines we monitor are primarily on ships under maintenance agreements where there is a dedicated team of Wärtsilä experts delivering services for the customer. We send regular notifications and monthly reports to customers, thereby proactively maintaining the engines in good condition.

We are now looking for reinforcement in our offices in Singapore, and other possible location is Finland (Vaasa or Turku). Your background can be in marine operation (chief engineer etc), automotive engineering, engine field service, R&D, engine manufacturing or similar. Understanding the correlation between various engine operational parameters is essential to be successful in this role. Our experts should be comfortable advising customers about four-stroke engines when sensor data is noticed to be deviating.

Other requirements for the role:

  • You are comfortable working with numbers in the form of tables and graphs.

  • You are willing to learn to use new IT tools.

  • You are willing to work in a structured way with routine work.

  • You are willing to work as an expert and a team player.

  • We offer you tutoring to get into the role, and after that continuous training and skills updating so that you will become a full-fledged expert on four-stroke engine diagnostics.

  • You will work in a team where everyone supports each other and discusses their interesting cases together.

  • You will get to work with state-of-the-art digital tools (including artificial intelligence) and be part of a modern and global business. Your customers will be located worldwide and the daily working language will be English.

Why you and us
All our employees are encouraged to utilise the variety of training activities, learning solutions and self-study materials that we have to offer which supports the opportunity to further develop your talents and competencies within a very global working environment, in an ambitious and growth orientated organisation.
