THE ROLE: Lead Engineer - Virtualization
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Virtualization Lead Engineer to drive the deployment and management of cutting-edge cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in VCF as the primary focus, along with leading platforms such as VMware Cloud on AWS (VMConAWS), Azure VMware Solution (AVS), and Nutanix Technologies. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation of cloud solutions ensuring they meet our customers business needs and technical requirements. You will also work on cloud and DevOps initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, efficient, and reliable infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end deployment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments, including configuration and integration of vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and vRealize components.
- Work on VMConAWS, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), and Nutanix platforms as additional responsibilities, ensuring seamless integration and management across multi-cloud environments.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to design tailored solutions that meet customer requirements for performance, scalability, and disaster recovery.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for VCF, delivering expert guidance to internal teams and clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to virtualization, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including deployment templates, runbooks, and best practices.
- Automate operational processes using tools like Ansible and Terraform for VCF, VMConAWS, AVS, and Nutanix environments.
- Work with public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) to provide hybrid solutions integrating with on-prem VMware infrastructure.
- Mentor and train junior engineers to build their expertise in VMware technologies, cloud platforms, and automation tools.
- Ensure high-quality customer experience through clear communication, timely delivery, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and VMware releases, making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7-10 years of experience in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, with 3+ years focused on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
- Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud on AWS (VMConAWS), Azure VMware Solution (AVS), and Nutanix.
- Expertise in networking, storage design, and datacenter infrastructure with VCF and related platforms.
- Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their integration with on-prem solutions.
- Proficiency in DevOps tools like Ansible, Terraform, and experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation.
- VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist are highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with multi-site VCF deployments and advanced technologies like NSX Federation.
- Working knowledge of public cloud services (AWS/Azure) and the ability to implement hybrid cloud solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating VMware environments into DevOps workflows.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to automate routine tasks and optimize infrastructure management.
Soft Skills and Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, project managers, and clients.
- A high level of attention to detail, ensuring precision in design, documentation, and implementation.
- Leadership abilities to guide, mentor, and train junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and team growth.
