Mutual of Enumclaw works exclusively with local independent agents to offer insurance products for individuals, families, farms, and businesses. We currently operate in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana and Wyoming.
The Personal Lines Underwriter reports to a Personal Lines Underwriting Manager. The primary role of this key position is to be responsible for assisting the organization to achieve its strategic goals and initiatives by successfully managing an assigned book of business. As an Underwriting team member, the Personal Lines Underwriter participates and collaborates in underwriting profitability as well as works with the marketing department on agency management.
Location:
The successful candidate will work remotely from a state in which Mutual of Enumclaw does business (WA, OR, ID, UT, AZ, MT, WY), must be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours, and must have high speed internet (internet speed test required).
Hiring Range: $75,000-$86,000
Salary Range: $75,000-$101,000

Responsibilities:
- Adopt high-quality work standards that support the organization’s quality service standards.
- Develop and maintain constructive, informative, cooperative, and influential working relationships through personal and responsive communication with assigned agencies.
- Efficiently manage workflow to ensure that underwriting cycle time meets the needs of policyholders and agents.
- Utilize delegated underwriting authority to approve and decline new and renewal risks using published guidelines, knowledge of filed contract language, and competitive landscape to align with Company appetite.
- Ensure profitability of assigned lines of business through the new business, endorsement, and renewal underwriting process.
- Be proficient with company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their meaning and use.
- Utilize understanding of assessing risk and exposures to identify business opportunities to maximize assigned territory loss ratio and growth objectives.
- Collaborate with District Marketing Managers to ensure that effective, appropriate and timely communications occur involving bulletins and changes to underwriting practices involving the assigned product lines and books of business.

- In-depth familiarity with contracts, legal requirements, and insurance regulations pertaining to Company lines of business and products.
- Maintain a high level of personal ownership and accountability.
Education and Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in the property & casualty insurance industry
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent Property & Casualty experience
- CPCU, CIC, and other insurance industry designation(s)/certification(s) preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
- Some travel may be required.
