The Opportunity:

The Sr Analyst, Benefits Analytics will lead and support data-driven initiatives for the benefits team and internal stakeholders by using data analytics expertise to contribute to a variety of projects involving the design, financing and ongoing management of our health and welfare benefit programs. In partnership with third party consultants and vendor partners, this role will provide the Benefits Director, finance, and other leaders with insights to make informed decisions and manage the performance and financial risk of the Company’s benefit plans through data analytics and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define data analysis needs from internal and external sources. Use enrollment, participation, performance, claims, and clinical data to analyze the effectiveness of benefit programs such as plan design, network performance, utilization, and service guarantees.
  • Track benefits cost, claims, and other benefits related data. Delve into data to discover discrepancies and patterns.
  • Analyze workforce demographics, benefits benchmark data and industry trends to help inform benefit decisions.
  • Access data warehouse and perform healthcare claims analytics to identify healthcare spend trends, cost-drivers and cost-containment opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on benefit plan performance – for example, benefit utilization, financial performance relative to budget etc. Provide written reports and presentations that summarize the data analyzed, interpret the findings, and provide conclusions and actionable recommendations.
  • Work with Benefits Consultant and Actuaries to model plan design alternatives to help clients understand the financial implications of various changes to their benefit plans.
  • Analyze program metrics to assess the effectiveness of benefits and wellbeing programs. Develop interactive dashboards and reporting tools to provide insights into benefit and wellbeing plan outcomes against key performance indicators.
  • Prepare submissions for various benchmarking surveys. Analyze benefit trends and competitive practices to offer best practice recommendations. Partner with other HR stakeholders to evaluate associate survey responses and preferences.
  • Support monthly invoice process and partner with Accounting/Finance to ensure timely and accurate expense allocations and payments for insured and self-funded programs.
  • Perform periodic audits of employee elections, vendor invoicing, and other data sets to ensure operational and data integrity across internal and external systems. Partner with Benefits Administrators to troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Support analysis and comparison of benefits for incoming associates as a result of client integrations / acquisitions.
  • Support compliance initiatives with preparation of data for submissions for various federal, state, and local compliance reporting such as 5500s, Non-Discrimination Testing, ACA, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and further automate current data collection, visualization and reporting to provide information and educate finance and senior leadership.
  • Stay abreast of the latest analytics trends and technologies to drive innovation within HR and benefits analytics practices.


Experience We Love:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience in Human Resources.
  • Critical thinking skills, plus the intellectual curiosity to question/test assumptions.
  • Statistical modeling and analysis skills or data modeling, analysis & visualization skills.
  • Ability to convert data into usable information and insights that are easy for a non-technical audience to understand.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to build effective visual presentations and analytical dashboards using data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CRCR Certification or willingness to obtain within 9 months of hire.
