We are in search of an individual who thrives on tackling complex challenges and is eager to influence the trajectory of data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate data migration projects, transitioning legacy databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) to cloud platforms including Azure and AWS.
  • Design and implement robust ETL pipelines that ensure effective data management, transformation, and security during migrations.
  • Collaborate closely with cloud infrastructure and DevOps teams to guarantee seamless integration of data systems within cloud environments.
  • Utilize advanced data engineering methodologies to update legacy databases, optimizing their performance in the cloud.
  • Provide comprehensive post-migration support which includes data validation, optimization, and troubleshooting services.
  • Apply best practices and cloud-native tools for efficient data processing and storage solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, providing guidance on cloud migration best practices and new technologies.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Over 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a concentration on database migrations and transformations.
  • Practical experience with cloud databases such as Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or Azure Cosmos DB, including their migration to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Proficient in designing and managing ETL processes for large data sets.
  • Strong understanding of cloud services, especially PaaS solutions like Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Amazon Aurora.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles, DevSecOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing data pipelines in cloud environments.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration across various teams.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record of experience in a government cloud environment (Azure Government, AWS GovCloud) is considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, and concepts related to Azure Synapse or Data Lake is advantageous.
