Job Description Summary:

Logan Health Medical Center, a Level III trauma center, is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Trauma Registrar to join our team. This vital position offers the flexibility of remote work with a 30-hour work week. To make an immediate impact, candidates must hold a Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification.

As a Trauma Registrar, you will be responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to patients treated for traumatic injuries. This role can be performed either in-person at our Kalispell, MT location or fully remotely.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification is required.

  • Participate in and pass the AAAM’s Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course

  • Participate in a trauma registry course that includes all of the following content:
         – Abstraction
         – Data management
         – Reports/report analysis
         – Data validation
         – HIPAA

  • Participate in an ICD-10 course or an ICD-10 refresher course every five years

Other Must-Haves:

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in clinical, health information, or quality services within a hospital setting.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology, and statistical methods. Proficiency in ICD-10 coding, with refresher training required every five years.

  • Training: Completion of trauma registry courses covering abstraction, data management, and HIPAA compliance.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse audiences.

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with registry or data management software is preferred.

    • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.

  • Teamwork: Commitment to a collaborative team environment while maintaining confidentiality. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Creates accurate patient lists from various sources of all applicable patients in the appropriate registry for assigned area(s).

  • In compliance with the registry data dictionary standards, abstracts clinical cases and submits required data within established deadlines. 

  • Performs data quality audits and scrubs.  Follows established procedures to ensure accuracy. Works with the registry team to correct any erroneous abstracts.

  • Maintains compliance with privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.

Schedule Details:

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.

Schedule: 30 hours per week

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
