Job description

Company Overview
Arbor stands at the intersection of technology and energy, committed to untangling the complex web of energy choices for consumers. With our recent $9M funding round, our mission has never been clearer: to simplify energy decisions, helping consumers save money and ultimately reduce carbon emissions.

Role Summary
We’re excited to hire the first Product Manager at Arbor. We’re seeking a highly motivated and impact-driven individual to lead the development of Arbor’s supplier-facing product. Energy suppliers procure energy for their electricity customers by trading on energy markets, or through their own power generation assets. Arbor secures favorable electricity supply pricing through these suppliers, ensuring our residential users receive the best savings on their electricity bills. In this role, you’ll bridge technical teams and external supplier relationships, ensuring the product delivers the best rates to users while driving value for suppliers.

At Arbor we empower our product teams to solve hard problems in ways that our customers love and that work for our business. You’re accountable for ensuring our efforts create meaningful value, contributing a deep knowledge of our users, suppliers, and the various constraints from energy, regulation, and the competitive landscape. You’ll collaborate closely with your product designer and engineers as well as our partner commercial, data, marketing, and customer support teams. You’ll leverage our collective passion to discover and deliver innovative solutions to the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Innovation for Energy Suppliers: Discover and deliver innovative solutions for energy suppliers, by building a deep understanding of their pricing and workflows.

  • Optimization of Pricing Mechanisms: Collaborate with engineering and data teams to enhance pricing / ensure optimal rates for consumers.

  • Deep Collaboration with Core Team: Work closely with core engineering, design, and data teammates in a dedicated product squad to ensure cohesive discovery and delivery of new value.

  • Product Evangelism: Inspire your direct team and stakeholders by communicating the vision and value of our product, helping others see and support the future we’re building.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with commercial, marketing, and customer support teams to deliver value to customers and the business.

  • Market Understanding: Stay informed on energy markets, supplier dynamics, and regulatory changes to shape pricing strategies.

  • Roadmap Ownership: Maintain a detailed product roadmap with clear priorities aligned with customer value and company goals.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze market data, supplier pricing trends, and consumer behavior to prioritize product improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience working on an empowered, agile product team, preferably in energy, payments, fintech, or related fields involving pricing and optimization.

  • Strong analytical mindset, comfortable diving into complex systems and industry nuances to make data-driven decisions.

  • Experience working closely with engineering, design, and data teams.

  • Understanding of energy markets, pricing models, and the regulatory environment is a plus but not required.

  • Experience forming deep relationships with B2B customers.

  • Strong communication skills with non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Experience discovering and delivering new and significant products that have created significant value for customers.

Location & Work Environment:

While this position is fully remote, candidates should be located within a reasonable distance of one of our hub locations in Boston or Austin. At Arbor, we deeply value the relationships and camaraderie among our team. Therefore, we periodically gather at these hubs for special occasions such as team events or when welcoming new members.
