Basic Job Functions:

NSPS is looking for an Electrician or BESS Technician with experience that can hit the ground running to maintain and manage BESS site(s).   You will be the front line and it is extremely important that you provide great communications of all on site activities.  Communications will be performed in both written and verbal.  All communications must be done in a timely manner.  You will be expected to answer emails, answer phone calls, and initiate and close work orders in the Salesforce CMMS system. You must be a self-start who can work remotely and independently.  

Candidate should be able to fully run the site with limited to no supervision.  Should be prepared to take over supervision of the facility in the absence of Site Supervisor or Site Manager.  

Experience:     

  • 4 years of experience in a related position or Journey level certification.
  • Prior Supervisory Experience a plus.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems operation, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and using procedures to perform equipment preventative and corrective maintenance. 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Associates degree or equivalent desired or Military Training or completion of Apprenticeship (Union or non-Union), utility, or power industry a plus.
  • TX Electricians License is a plus or related experience.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as, digital multi-meter, meggers and multi process calibration equipment
  • Strong knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques
  • Operational power plant experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft office suite.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
  • Availability for daily regional travel to job sites as needed
  • A valid driver's license operable in all 50 states and a clean driving record. A clean driving records means:
    • In the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents.
    • In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident.
  • The use of PPE is required and must be consistently used in accordance with NSPS, NFPA, or OSHA guidelines.

 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage warranty process, by directly interfacing with the OEM or their representative.
  • Initiate LOTO, conduct PJBs and JHA.  You must be capable of mitigating all hazards or providing a solution to keep yourself and others safe.
  • Initiate safety observations in NSPS’s safety program.
  • Manage competing priorities.  
  • Testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and replacing battery energy storage power plant related electrical equipment.
  • Perform ALL switching and tagging IAW NSPS NOPs and MOPs.
  • Gather technical information from electrical schematics, vendor information, and applicable codes to communicate the problems to NovaSource Control Room, Managers, Customers and OEM Technicians.
  • Perform current and voltage readings as necessary.
  • Understand work management using CMMs and how reliability-based maintenance philosophies and can save maintenance cost. (You will be asked during the interview.)
  • Perform plant related preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance as scheduled and provided by the Area Manager or Technician Supervisor.
  • Initiate Customer and Management notifications of site events.
  • Manager all warranty submissions and provide data for the monthly maintenance reports by providing records associated with the electrical systems. NSPS has a tracking system, but we are open to better ideas.
  • Strict adherence to all NSPS safety policies and procedures
  • Documenting all work in Soft Wrench and provide feedback for weekly Planning and scheduling meeting.
  • Ability to operate independently, safely, and efficiently to maximize power generation and availability.
  • Have after-hours availability to be dispatched to site requiring immediate attention.

 

Reporting Relationships:

  • Will report to most senior site manager or supervisor depending on site organizational structure.
  • Will lead work groups and supervise plant evolutions. 
  • Will assume all the duties of a Site Supervisor or manager and take charge when requested. 

 

Travel:

  • Travel will be required depending on the needs of the region.

 

Physical Requirements:

Bending, kneeling, twisting, the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, the ability to climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods of time.

Ability to work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate on uneven ground on foot.
