Role Purpose

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in preparing the financial accounts for the organisation and ensuring the financial integrity of the statutory accounts. You will provide financial skills and expertise to fulfil Telstra InfraCo Fixed internal and external financial accounting, operations and reporting obligations, in a complex accounting and regulatory environment.

The role is location agnostic with flexible working arrangements available including remote working and no mandated days in the office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing quality accounting analysis and management accounting reporting across the business
  • Ensuring compliance with external statutory audit and reporting
  • Support the management of working capital for the company working closely with shared service suppliers as well as the business to optimise financial and process outcomes
  • Support the financial controller on key systems and process implementations/improvement programs across all of the P2O, O2A, U2C and R2R value chains.

Specific tasks pertinent to this role for the reporting, management and statutory accounts include:

  • Maintain the General Ledger for all Balance sheet related activities ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform monthly close process through the preparation of journals.
  • Preparation of InfraCo Fixed statutory accounts and the monitor of accounting and reporting developments.
  • Assist in the bi-annual financial audits by preparing relevant working papers and files as well obtaining support from the wider business.
  • Assist in writing technical accounting papers to support accounting positions.
  • Production of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Production and management of Free Cash-flow for the company, including working capital, debt servicing and Treasury current account processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of group and statutory accounts audit pack.
  • Assist the Finance Manager and Financial Controller as required.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • CA/CPA fully qualified
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Accounting
  • High awareness of current technical accounting and reporting and accepted accounting practices and standards
  • Ability to navigate complex problems
  • Experience of financial systems and processes
  • Experience in WIP, PPE and lease processes and related accounting
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Accurate and clear communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to create and build strong relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Have infrastructure experience
