About the team:
The Fraud team is responsible for enabling Wealthsimple to grow safely. We aim to balance fraud risk and client experience: our mission is to minimize losses while creating seamless experiences. Our goal is to use data and analytics to make every decision a rational one.
A typical week in this role would have you solving ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment that prioritizes shipping and iterating new features for our clients. Our Fraud team is staffed with seasoned engineers, product managers, and data scientists. We need a dynamic problem-solver who can collaborate with these teams to deliver on business cases, real-time fraud defences, financial modelling, data visualization and ML decision thresholds.
Our team is at the forefront of every new feature launch, and you will get the opportunity to collaborate with product, technology, and risk while seeing your work create big impacts to the business. Your strategies will mitigate millions of dollars of attempted fraud annually while protecting the financial security of over 3 million clients.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Build data-driven business cases around fraud strategies to manage the risk on new & existing productsPartner with data science, product and engineering teams to bring your ideas to marketCreate metrics & visualizations to monitor account activity, applying judgment skills to uncover anomalous patternsShare fraud trends and performance with leadershipApply financial modelling to estimate the fraud loss impact of new feature launchesDevelop grounded decision thresholds using ML based risk scoresWe're looking for someone who:Has strong data skills, with applied experience and demonstrated success in academic and/or professional settingsExperience in structuring ambiguous problems, using data to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, and synthesizing results into actionable proposals Can develop and communicate stories to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCan internalize and weigh information to come to balanced decisionsIs intellectually curious and passionate about their work
