Job description

Topicals is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Director, Financing & Accounting. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring fiscal health and integrity. This role will involve developing financial strategies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and government regulations, managing accounting operations, and providing financial analysis and reporting to senior management. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in supporting  growth initiatives and driving financial performance

Key Responsibilities
  • Continuously improve and update the Company’s three statement financial forecast to provide management with real-time insights and calculate the Company’s free cash flow under various scenarios. 
  • Drive annual budgeting process and long-term strategic planning processes.
  • Lead analytical aspects of key business decisions.
  • Manage the accounting team to ensure that all transactions, journal entries and other adjustments are recorded accurately on a timely basis in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review and manage the design, implementation and execution of all financial internal controls. Identify and mitigate financial risks, providing proactive recommendations to safeguard the company’s financial stability.
  • Provide all internal and external parties with relevant financial information on a timely basis.
  • Collaborate and communicate with department heads to ensure financial plans align with organizational goals.
  • Direct and lead the tax team, ensuring accurate and timely filing of federal and state taxes  annually.
  • Coordinate with the People & Culture team to ensure the Company is registered for all applicable payroll taxes and oversee timely filings and payments to ensure compliance.
  • Ownership of sales tax-related tasks, including but not limited to, strategic identification of registration areas, state reporting, and effective management of cash collection and remittance.
  • Manage all aspects of accounts receivable and accounts payable to maintain financial equilibrium and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee and manage all banking relationships to ensure that accounts are appropriately set up and operational  in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor macroeconomic trends to optimize interest income through the use of bank accounts, contributing to the company’s financial performance.
  • Ensure that all payroll and bonuses are paid out according to our compensation plans.


  • Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; CPA a bonus
  • 5-7+ years experience in a senior accounting or finance role
  • Experience overseeing payroll and payroll database (preferably Gusto or similar)
  • Exceptional financial reporting, financial modeling and budgeting skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting tools such as Quickbooks
  • Experience in beauty or consumer products 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable working under tight timelines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
