The Director of Accounting is a business partner to Unified operational leadership, member physicians, and care center practice managers. This individual oversees all financials operations of his/her markets, including managing accounting processes and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This individual also provides financial support to the Corporate Accounting Team (including Centralized Accounts Payable) and other internal stakeholders, and may assist with integrations and other special projects, as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, organize, direct, mentor and develop a team of accountants.
  • Responsible for the monthly close of cash-basis financials for portfolio of care centers within the markets, while supporting the review of consolidated financials in accordance with GAAP.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving work product, providing strategic and daily guidance to achieve objectives, and developing individuals to position for growth.
  • Responsible for understanding the care centers’ business office activities, where applicable, related to accounts payable, payroll administration and any other duties performed on-site.
  • Present monthly financial reporting and benchmarking with the Clinical Governance Board (CGB), Finance Committees and physicians in the market(s).
  • Serve as business partner with Unified market leaders, care center managers, and key physician leaders, reviewing monthly income statement trend analysis and providing various analyses Care Center and market financials.
  • Assist in ongoing accounting operations that will deliver continuous improvement and streamlined processes around standardization, scalability, and automation, ultimately driving efficiencies and effectiveness throughout the region.
  • Lead department initiatives.
  • Liaise with functional areas, as needed, to provide necessary support of care centers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to key stakeholders (including physicians and care center staff, as well as Unified operational leaders, Corporate Accounting, and Finance leadership) in all financial matters related to their market.
  • Analyze care center performance and collaborate with Operational leaders to understand variances in financial performance to expectations.
  • Support the integration of new care centers being onboarded, along with activities related to divested centers.
  • Support the team in special projects and initiatives, including preparing and gathering data for audit procedures.
  • Ensure G/L and financial system integrity is maintained.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Eight plus years' experience and at least three years’ supervisory experience required, in the healthcare field preferred.
  • Expert proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and Macros
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; communicates articulately and comprehends complex written and verbal communication
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and priorities, and maintain high performance levels in challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide excellent, client-focused service
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments and individuals
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Well organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
