Scope of Position
As Employment Counsel, this attorney is responsible for assisting the Senior Counsel & Director, Global Employment Law (to which this role reports), the Corning Law and Human Resources Departments, and other business partners on a wide range of labor and employment related matters.
As directed by the Senior Counsel & Director, Global Employment Law, the attorney will manage and assist in employment and labor-related legal matters, including advising on the terms of various collective bargaining agreements and assisting the Employee Relations Function on grievances and the records thereof; advising HR partners on issues related to employee discipline, performance management, and termination; supporting and conducting investigations related to issues falling within the HR scope, such as allegations of harassment; regularly advising on ADA requests for accommodation and fit for duty evaluations; supporting the response to allegations of discrimination and harassment filed with administrative agencies; assisting in the development and revision of policies and procedures; and providing legal support on issues of OSHA/health and safety.
This attorney performs job duties consistent with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements as well as Company values, standards, culture and business practices. This attorney will act with the highest level of integrity and business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.
Job Requirements

- Travel: up to 15%
Required Education & Experience
- Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 8+ years of substantive labor and employment experience with a corporate legal department or a nationally recognized law firm; In-house experience preferred, but not required.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, initiatives and requests for support simultaneously with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.
- Excellent judgment, integrity and the ability to provide consultative guidance quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to simplify complicated legal concepts into comprehendible terms for business partners at all levels of the Company; must be proactive in providing counsel to clients.

The range for this position is $150,727.00 - $207,250.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
