Summary:

The Senior Paralegal supports the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer contributing the effective delivery of legal services to the team. The role involves legal research, document preparation and review, case management, and client interaction. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Managing and organizing case files, recording documents, and exhibits in connection with ongoing claims, litigation, third party subpoena and regulatory demands and requests.
  • Managing important deadlines.
  • Communicating with clients, and other parties involved in legal matters. Gathering information and maintaining client relationships.
  • Reviewing responses to requests for proposals, engagement letters and other contracts.
  • Assisting in intake and evaluation of internal personnel investigations.
  • Drafting memoranda of understanding, independent contractor, separation and settlement and other agreements.
  • Supporting M&A due diligence and contract review process.
  • Managing litigation hold process.
  • Executing process and workflow improvement programs.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Draft legal documents. Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case and files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Oversees records production process.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Coordinates matters with brokers, carriers, outside counsel and third parties.
  • Composes, types, and distributes professional correspondence, pleadings, memos and e-mails.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a paralegal required. Experience working in a professional services firm environment preferred. - (Public accounting and or Law firm)
  • In dept knowledge and research on employment laws
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Some related experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000
