An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to work at our Marble Bar Nursing Post/Health Centre. This is for a Permanent Fulltime appointment at 80 hours per fortnight.

Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Remote works as a member of a multidisciplinary team within a primary health care framework in partnership with the community, community council and other organisations. The role provides culturally responsive, planned, coordinated and comprehensive primary health and emergency care to the individuals and families of the respective community.

What We Are Looking For

  • Your ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation as well as external stakeholders
  • You will be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a remote Aboriginal community or cross-cultural setting
  • You will either have or be working towards Remote Emergency Care (REC), Pharmacology competency, and Maternity Emergency Care (MEC) which would be highly desirable, as well as a Post Grad in Remote Nursing or Leadership.
  • Other desirable experience includes: Community Health, Public Health, Health Promotion, Primary Health Care, Remote Health Practice, and immunisation provider’s certificate or a willingness to undertake same

To be successful you will

  • Have 5 years broad nursing experience with recent accident and emergency skills or remote area nursing experience.
  • Relish the challenge to show case your advanced clinical skills in a culturally diverse community

About the Town: Marble Bar is one of the most famous outback towns in Australia, and is a fine example of a pioneering town dating the gold rush days at the end of the nineteenth century. It is located 1492km north of Perth on the Great Northern highway via Newman, 1939km north of Perth via the coast road, and 202km south-east of Port Hedland. It is rich in natural attractions, surrounded by a rugged outback landscape dotted with gorges where you can enjoy a peaceful picnic and refreshing swim. It was named after the large mineral deposits in the area which was originally thought to be marble but in fact was Jasper bar and mistaken for marble, known as Marble Bar, which runs across the bed of the Coongan River. This outback town was pioneered during the gold rush days of the late 1800’s and is also home to the Comet Gold Mine and the Corunna Downs Airbase which was one of the best kept secrets of World War 2.

Marble Bar’s biggest event on the town’s calendar is the Marble Bar Horse Race! A social occasion since 1893, where the locals gather at the red dirt racetrack to enjoy the country picnic race day atmosphere. There are many interesting and historical places to visit in Marble Bar and has a heritage trail around the town. On Station Street, below water tank lookout, is the old hospital which in 1904 was created as a leprosy hospital. Today however the town only has a nurse’s station which continues to service the local and surrounding community. Pilbara overview: The Pilbara is the State's second most northern region and covers 507,896 sq km (including offshore islands). It is the home of 62,841 residents (based on ABS ERP 2020). The Pilbara region is home to some of Earth’s oldest rock formations and its landscape includes coastal plains and mountain ranges with cliffs and gorges.
