Content Area Or Department Brief Description

Work in this area builds capacity to improve the quality of infant and toddler care in local programs, communities, states, Early Head Start programs, and other countries.

In California, PITC-certified trainers deliver PITC training and technical assistance on a regional basis. PITC certification deepens trainers' and coaches' understanding of how to enhance the professional development of infant and toddler care teachers and family child-care providers through the PITC Philosophy of responsive, relationship-based care and essential policies.

Position Overview

The Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) Regional Support Network (RSN) is looking for an Infant/Toddler Specialist that would be responsible for providing training and coaching to infant/toddler center staff, groups of family child care providers and groups of family, friend and neighbor care providers requesting PITC services. Under the direction of the Regional Coordinator, the Infant/Toddler Specialist works collaboratively with each organization’s administrative staff, group host, and/or contact person to negotiate and implement PITC RSN services and provide PITC training and technical assistance in accordance with the established PITC RSN policies.

The position includes delivering services in Chinese remotely (in Zoom) statewide in California as well as potentially delivering services in person in the Bay Area which requires that applicants live in or near the greater Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with each organization’s administrative staff and/or host/contact person to negotiate and implement PITC RSN services.
  • Provide PITC training and coaching to assigned sites in accordance with the established PITC RSN policies and procedures.
  • Provide instruction and grading for students enrolled for academic credit in accordance with PITC RSN policies.
  • Submit electronically all required paperwork in accordance with PITC RSN policies, including but not limited to:
  • Weekly timesheets and training participant sign-in sheets.
  • Progress reports are uploaded to the PITC RSN Database no later than the 5th of each month. Progress Reports describe changes, implementation, successes, and challenges in both training and coaching activities.
  • Local travel reimbursement and other expenses, claims monthly, no later than the 5th of each month.
  • Closing paperwork, including attendance logs and finalized grade rosters.
  • Meet with your PITC RSN Regional Coordinator at least monthly and report on status of training plan(s) and any challenges and successes.
  • Submit training plans for approval using the PITC RSN database.
  • Attend and actively participate in required Professional Development (PD) activities to include the following:
  • Attend PITC RSN orientation with the Regional Coordinator
  • Attend Annual Advanced Training for PITC Regional Support Network I/T Specialists
  • Attend regional and/or statewide I/T Specialist meetings (as scheduled)
  • Participate in a minimum of one observation by your PITC RSN Regional Coordinator each year. Discuss observation and incorporate feedback into the PITC RSN services you provide.

Qualifications

  • Fully bi-lingual and bi-literate in Chinese.
  • Certification in the Program for Infant/Toddler Care: Modules I-IV.
  • Certification in Beginning Together (PITC Module V) is preferred.
  • 24 units in Early Childhood Education.
  • BA or higher (MA preferred) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with infants/toddlers and families in center-based, family child care or family, friend & neighbor care settings.
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing training and technical assistance to infant/toddler center-based, family child care programs or family, friend & neighbor care providers.
  • Experience supporting early care and education program staff and providers with strategies for implementation and change.
  • Experience working with diverse communities.
  • Computer access and ability to submit all required paperwork electronically.
  • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Successful candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The salary for this temporary role is $50 per hour.
