"Calling all ELD Educators! We want you!

Are you a passionate English Language Educator with strong interpersonal skills who is interested in expanding your positive impact beyond your classroom or district?

Skyrocket Education Services is looking for a talented and driven individual to consult with high school charter school leaders and coach teachers across the U.S. as they build and expand their English language development programs to enhance instruction while meeting all schoolwide and statewide requirements.

This role will require travel up to 10-15% to provide data-driven guidance and training to leaders and instructional staff to support their efforts to meet state-specific and charter-specific academic goals. This travel includes 20 days per year in-person attendance at the Pasadena, CA headquarters for professional development and company events.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

  • Assists in adapting current and new ELD curriculum for independent study, online, and hybrid learning instructional formats. This includes ensuring publications on Skyrocket websites, course description indices, and course contracts are updated and current for each client.

  • Assists in editing, reviewing, and formatting ELD-related documents like ELD Master Plans, credit policies, academic learning plans, and progress monitoring tools.

  • Assists in research of new material for the purpose of providing the most effective program options for clients. 

  • Communicates and consults with the ELD manager and clients to establish project timelines, milestones, and progress toward completion.

  • Assists in planning and implementing ELD staff development/training for staff of new courses, data interpretation, best practices, etc... 

  • Coordinates with the assessment team to align course materials and data interpretation with the clients’ language proficiency assessments.

  • Assists in developing and facilitating professional development for enhancing designated and integrated ELD instruction.

  • Participates as part of the company team. 

  • Assists with other functions and duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

 
  • Superior knowledge of theory and practice of language acquisition methods.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong digital organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to use technology effectively to create and modify websites, presentations, and other media.

  •  Ability to facilitate projects toward completion in a timely manner using both in-person and remote communication methods. 

  • Ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a multi-task environment. 

  • Ability to organize and host formal presentations to clients and Skyrocket staff regarding ELD methods and practices. 

  • Ability to work effectively in meeting deadlines while maintaining a high-level of diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and customer service.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

 

Education and Experience:

 
  • Valid secondary English language Arts or English Language Development teaching credential

  • Master's in a related content area: TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, education with a TESL emphasis  

  • OR Bachelor’s in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND Master’s in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech, or any foreign language OR the equivalent in experience.

  • Professional experience in teaching ESL/ELD for 3-5 years.

  • Experience with state-wide assessments for ELD programs. 

  • Experience developing and adapting curriculum for ELD programs. 

  • Training and/or experience in the area of computer-assisted learning. 

  • Experience leading an ELD academic or educational program. 

  • Fluency in more than one language is preferred.
