CoE Tax Advisor with German 

 

PURPOSE

As a Center of Excellence (CoE) Tax Advisor for our GBS team at Bayer, your role is pivotal in providing comprehensive support for withholding tax (WHT), corporate income tax (CIT) and value-added tax (VAT) compliance processes for Germany. You will offer expert guidance and advice to the German tax operation team, addressing complex tax issues, improving current processes, and verifying commercial contracts from a WHT perspective for German entities. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing knowledge by documenting and training team members on German tax processes, enhancing the team's tax-specific knowledge and expertise, and actively participating in meetings with stakeholders to share information and address various business initiatives. Your responsibilities will also include conducting risk-based random reviews of tax declarations to ensure accuracy and compliance, as well as reviewing tax declarations for complex German legal entities, providing valuable insights and recommendations.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive support for withholding tax (WHT), value-added tax (VAT) and corporate income tax (CIT) compliance processes for Germany.
  • Offer expert guidance and advice to the German tax operation team, addressing complex tax issues and improving current processes.
  • Verify commercial contracts from a WHT perspective for German entities.
  • Manage knowledge by documenting and training team members on German tax processes, enhancing the team's tax-specific knowledge and expertise.
  • Assist in tax refund and tax audit processes.
  • Actively participate in meetings with stakeholders to share information and address various business initiatives.
  • Conduct risk-based random reviews of tax declarations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Review tax declarations for complex German legal entities, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
 
Experience & skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Tax/Fiscal, Finance, Accounting, Law, or Business with 8+ years of experience in tax advisory, preferably in a multinational company, covering direct and indirect tax advisory, tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting.
  • Working experience in German tax advisory.
  • A German tax advisor license (StB) would be beneficial.
  • Strong capabilities to work through ambiguity and exercise sound judgment.
  • Advanced level of capabilities to lead change, projects, and initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong tax judgment and business knowledge or the ability to quickly learn.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills, proactive attitude, and customer-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, presentation skills, and ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced level in English and German, both written and spoken.
