This is a remote position.
This role would suit a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with specific expertise in Australian accounting practices. Hands-on experience with BAS preparation, tax compliance, and a solid understanding of Australian financial regulations.
BAS Preparation and Bookkeeping:
· Manage and oversee the preparation and lodgment of Business Activity Statements (BAS) for clients in compliance with Australian taxation regulations.
· As part of preparing some BAS you will be required to do some minor bookkeeping for our clients. Proficiency in bookkeeping for Australian businesses is desirable.
· Stay informed about changes in BAS/Bookkeeping regulations and ensure timely adjustments to processes where required.
Tax Compliance & Financial Reporting:
· Support one of our senior on-shore accountants assisting them to prepare business annual tax work.
· Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Australian tax laws.
· Maintain knowledge of changing compliance standards each year.
· Review and clean business data for tax preparation, primarily through use of Business Fitness Active Workpapers and Xero accounting software.
· Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, using Xero accounting software.
Self Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Preparation:
· Support one of our senior on-shore accountants assisting them to prepare Annual SMSF Returns and Financials.
· Experience in processing SMSF annual returns in Class Super software is welcome.
· Collate electronic files and upload them into our SMSF Auditor Portal and liaise with the auditor upon any requests for further information.
Team Communication:
· Communication skills will be required to form relationships and work efficiently with our senior accountants who will work with you to assign tasks and troubleshoot any problems you come across.
· An ability to understand and discuss key elements of Australian business tax preparation will assist to work seamlessly with our on-shore team.
· Enthusiastically support our seniors and partners with their ad-hoc tasks to deliver business services and support to our clients.
Software Proficiency:
· Utilize Xero accounting software, but also be able to use MYOB and QuickBooks for accurate record-keeping and financial reporting.
· Stay updated on software advancements and recommend updates or changes as necessary.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Proven experience as an Accountant in Australia, with a focus on BAS preparation and tax compliance.
· Knowledge of Australian tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Proficiency in Xero accounting software, as well as MYOB and QuickBooks.
· Any experience in Business Fitness Active Workpapers is welcome.
