Job Summary

The Building & Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Milano Fashion School and the Milano Design School, with a specific focus on supporting events and ensuring the functionality of the schools needs. This role ensures that all building systems are running efficiently, safety standards are met, and the facility is kept in optimal condition to support a dynamic environment that includes both business operations and educational activities. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a deep understanding of building maintenance and operations.

Key purpose of the role

  • Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
  • Ensure all building operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and efficiency of building systems.
  • Oversee cleaning services to ensure the facility is clean and presentable at all times.
  • Collaborate with event planners to ensure facilities meet event requirements.
  • Support on setup and teardown of event spaces, including furniture arrangement and technical setup.
  • Provide on-site support during events to troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure school facilities are maintained to support educational activities and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with school administration to address specific facility needs and improvements.
  • Coordinate with school staff to schedule maintenance tasks to minimize disruption to educational activities.
  • Coordinate regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Implement emergency preparedness plans and conduct regular drills with staff.
  • Management of the facilities budget.
  • Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Approve purchase orders and invoices for maintenance supplies and services.

Education and Skills

  • Diploma or BA Degree in technical disciplines;
  • At least 2 or 3 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • ISO and safety standards knowledge;
  • Good knowledge of English language;
  • Ability to work in team;
  • Ability to work under pressure.
