Job Title
Legal Counsel

Job Description

As a Legal Counsel at Philips, you will be involved in providing legal advice and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. You will advise the Company on general and specific legal and regulatory matters, provide legal opinions, negotiate and draft contracts, manage and mitigate legal risks, handle legal projects and oversee work of outside counsel.

Your role:

  • Advising Philips on general advisory matters relating to applicable laws in META.

  • Providing accurate, relevant, and timely advice to Philips and the business on a variety of legal topics that relate to the healthcare sector and Philips products and services.

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts/agreements in English and Arabic including memorandums of understanding, supply agreements, distribution and partner agreements, agency agreements, procurements contracts, service agreements etc.

  • Staying up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect Philips’s business and healthcare industry.

  • Drafting legal opinions and legal advice in all fields of corporate law, commercial law as well as dispute resolution mechanisms.

  • Ensuring compliance with the internal policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements

  • Managing and mitigating legal risks.

  • Designing and delivering legal and compliance training to the business.

  • Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout Philips.

  • Conducting legal analysis and research, obtaining factual information, and providing guidance on legal questions or issues.

  • Assisting in the preparation of cases for litigation, reviewing complex documents relating to transactions in which the company is to participate. 

  • Managing litigation and liaising with and managing external counsel in line with legal budget.

You are part of Philips Legal team.  As a Legal Counsel you will support the META region reporting to Head of Legal META • Legal International Markets

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law. Master’s degree in law or LLM is a plus

  • Minimum 5 years of related legal experience in a law firm or a multinational company

  • Advanced communication skills in English and Arabic both verbal and written

  • Very good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a group and with different stakeholders.
