Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

Pinterest is seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Benefits to lead the design, implementation, and management of our global benefits programs. In this pivotal role, you will shape and articulate a compelling benefits strategy that aligns with Pinterest's mission, values, and business objectives, fostering a culture of well-being and engagement for our global workforce. This position will play a crucial role in enhancing our overall employer brand by partnering with internal stakeholders and gathering employee feedback to improve our benefits offerings.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and champion a comprehensive, innovative benefits strategy that supports Pinterest's global workforce, ensuring alignment with the company's overall mission and values.
  • Benefits Program Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of all benefits programs, including health, wellness, retirement, and other employee benefits, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and compliant with local regulations. Utilize change management expertise to launch programs through effective communication planning and drive workforce engagement.
  • Financial Stewardship: Demonstrate mastery in budgeting, costing, and financial management of benefits programs, particularly self-funded insurance, optimizing cost-effectiveness while maintaining high quality.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with global benefits vendors and consultants, negotiating contracts, ensuring service quality, and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with HR colleagues, business leaders, Finance (FP&A), Legal, and Compensation to identify and address employee needs, conduct annual financial planning, engage Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), manage change, and perform benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in benefits management, providing thought leadership and proactively adapting programs to meet the changing needs of the organization.
  • Team Development: Lead and inspire a high-performing benefits team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in global benefits management, with a proven track record of success in designing and implementing comprehensive benefits programs and mastery in crafting equitable, market-based, and cost-effective reward and recognition systems.
  • Deep expertise in benefits plan design, administration, compliance, and financial management, including self-funded insurance.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for creating a positive employee experience and promoting a culture of well-being.
