Director, Compensation - Canada is a key member of RGA’s global compensation team. This role is responsible for managing salary planning, bonuses, job evaluations and participate / lead global compensation projects. The incumbent will act as an advisor in leading, planning, developing, designing and implementing a range of programs and processes related to compensation, related policies and practices, and human resources analytics that support the company’s strategic goals in Canada while ensuring alignment with global philosophies and compliance with Company policies. The incumbent will also ensure compliance and adherence to legal regulations that affect existing compensation plans and stays abreast of current legislation and trends.

Responsibilities
Project manages the review, development and implementation of salary, incentive, and recognition to ensure overall market competitiveness within Canada.
Partners with the leader of benefits to ensure our compensation is aligned to overall total reward trends and company objectives.
Leads and/or partners on a variety of global projects including market pricing and analysis, annual compensation processes, pay equity review, and others. Manages salary survey participation for applicable surveys.
In partnership with the leader of benefits, develop policies, procedures, and tools to manage the total rewards offering.
Oversee Pay Equity compliance, including regular pay equity reviews and ensuring all compensation recommendations are made inclusive of Pay Equity compliance requirements. Responsible for meeting varied provincial legislative reporting and posting requirements.
Ensures guidance of the internal approval matrix and keep up-to-date of changes in local regulations for compensation.
Conducts detailed analysis of workforce, compensation, and financial data as it relates to human capital to identify trends and propose solutions to strategic business needs and to ensure RGA remains competitive and equitable.
Lead and conduct job analysis and market pricing of new or revised roles. Based on market data and internal equity recommends an appropriate pay level ensuring competitive analysis of offers.
Work closely with HR Business Partners to advise on compensation matters within assigned client group(s) while ensuring compliance with corporate compensation guidelines and plans.
Coach and equip HR Business partners to support leaders and managers through compensation decisions.
Lead the annual salary planning for Canada while working closely with global teams.
Participate in development of HR communication plans related to total rewards programs.
Monitor legislative changes and propose modifications.
Maintain vendor and consultant relationships.
Implement and drive key HR decision-making metrics. Oversee data integrity in the various systems, including Workday.
Analyzes and advises on cross border relocations to ensure competitiveness of compensation and tax impact to individuals on moves.
Participate in M&A and other global projects.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Business, Economics, Statistics or related with ideally 10+ years of compensation, benefits, finance or related analyst experience that involve implementation and program / project management as well as use of statistical analysis and modeling.
Expert knowledge of compensation principles and current industry best practices through extensive experience developing innovative policies and programs related to compensation.
Knowledge of Canadian employment and income tax laws, regulations and operating guidelines.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to develop models to analyze and forecast compensation expenses using Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills and HRIS platforms and reporting tools. Ability to build advanced charts and data models and excellent financial analytical skills.
Strong skills in MS office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
