The pay range is $69,000.00 - $124,200.00

A role with the Design team means a big opportunity to start from scratch and create something truly original. Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials, and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you’ll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you’ll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

As Designer of Women’s Swim your job responsibilities will include:

  • Building seasonal collections based on global and domestic trends.

  • Providing a brand specific lens to interpret global trends for Target Gen Z guest.

  • Continuous evolution and improvements to enhance overall design, sourcing, and execution of Swim product in line with Target Forward sustainability initiatives.

  • Working with Design Director & Senior Designer to manage process and calendar.

  • Working with Design Director to build concepts throughout the development process, research, selection of materials/finishes, and the creation of silhouettes.

  • Translating ideas for product direction using Illustrator sketches.

  • Partnering cross-functionally with the Merchandising team to maintain style counts that match the line plan.

  • Maintaining a diligent approach to workload, including timely communication with internal and external partners.

  • Collaborating with vendors, and internal sourcing team on bringing newness to product development that meets costing requirements.

  • Building brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the brand & division to ensure continuity.

  • Leading preparation for seasonal milestone meeting presentations.

  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving product issues in collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners.

About You:

  • 3+ years design experience in womenswear - experience within Swim is preferred.

  • Four-year degree in Design.

  • Photoshop, Illustrator, XD (Adobe suite) experience required.

  • In-depth understanding of fabric + finishing and aptitude to learn sweater yarn/ stitch/ gg for the Swim Cover-ups business.

  • Strong technical knowledge within garment construction.

  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.

  • Elevated aesthetic & sense of trend.

  • Ability to think and act globally, strategically, and tactically.

  • Ability to build strong CFT partnerships.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Excellent time management.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly-organized and detail-oriented.

  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
