Job description

Our client, a prominent online sports betting and casino operator targeting the African market, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Growth & Digital Marketing. This pivotal role focuses on driving customer acquisition, retention, and overall growth through innovative digital-first marketing strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in growth marketing, experience leading multi-disciplinary teams (growth marketing, design, content, and operations), and a passion for leveraging data to drive digital marketing success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Digital Growth Strategies: Craft and execute comprehensive growth marketing strategies that drive user acquisition, engagement, and retention, with a focus on digital channels such as social media, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Leadership Across Teams: Manage and lead cross-functional teams including growth marketing, design, content creation, and operations, ensuring seamless collaboration to execute marketing campaigns and drive business growth.
  • Manage Internal Studio and Growth Marketing: Oversee the internal studio (design, content, and operations) as well as growth marketing, ensuring that both creative and strategic teams work cohesively to deliver impactful results.
  • Digital Marketing Leadership: Lead the digital marketing team in the creation, execution, and optimization of multi-channel campaigns, specifically focused on digital platforms. Avoid traditional marketing channels like out-of-home (OOH) and radio, with a strong emphasis on paid media, social platforms, search, and performance marketing.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Utilize data analytics to measure and optimize marketing performance, identify growth opportunities, and make data-driven decisions that are centered on digital channels and online user behaviors.
  • Customer Journey Optimization: Analyze and enhance the digital customer journey, ensuring a seamless experience from acquisition to retention, leveraging UX insights and data to continuously improve the customer lifecycle.
  • Product Marketing Alignment: Collaborate with product and UX teams to align digital marketing initiatives with product development, ensuring that marketing strategies reflect product offerings and user engagement goals.
  • Content Strategy & Creative Execution: Oversee the content team to develop compelling, relevant, and engaging digital content for websites, apps, social media, and other digital touchpoints, ensuring the content strategy supports growth initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the digital marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources with a focus on maximizing ROI through cost-effective digital campaigns and initiatives.
  • Performance Reporting: Regularly report on key digital marketing performance metrics, campaign effectiveness, and growth outcomes to senior leadership, focusing on digital-specific metrics such as conversion rates, cost-per-acquisition (CPA), and customer lifetime value (CLTV).
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team that includes growth marketing, design, content, and operations, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations: Identify and develop digital partnerships and collaborations (e.g., influencers, affiliates, and digital media partners) that enhance growth and strengthen the company's market presence.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital growth marketing, with a proven track record of driving significant growth in a digitally-focused environment, ideally in the African iGaming market.
  • Team Leadership: Strong leadership experience in managing and developing teams across multiple functions such as growth marketing, design, content, and operations, with an emphasis on digital collaboration and execution. Experience managing internal studios is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is critical, ensuring that all aspects of marketing campaigns, creative content, and operational workflows meet the highest standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable digital strategies.
  • Digital Expertise: Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, tools, and best practices, specifically focused on online platforms (SEO, SEM, social media, content marketing, and email).
  • Market Knowledge: Experience in the African market is highly desirable, with knowledge of user behaviors and digital engagement specific to the region.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about growth opportunities while executing tactically in digital environments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Adaptability: Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, particularly in the digital marketing space.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
