We are currently hiring a Bankruptcy Paralegal to help grow our company and ensure our mission is achieved!  

This role is a work from home position and can be performed remotely anywhere in the continental US or in our corporate office in Utah.

YOU ARE: A detailed oriented professional that knows that working hard and having fun are two peas in the same pod! Your primary duty is to receive and process bankruptcy pleadings and notices that are received via mail, email, or verbally. These actions are vital in preventing the company from violating the automatic stay imposed after bankruptcy filing. Additionally, the Assistant appropriately identifies how Progressive’s debt is accounted for in the Bankruptcy Petition and relays the information to the appropriate Bankruptcy Specialist.  

  

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:  

  • Receive and process bankruptcy case pleadings and other notices, daily  
  • Possess a working knowledge of how, why, and when bankruptcy pleadings apply to Progressive  
  • Properly input data and adjust internal databases to ensure Progressive Leasing does not violate the automatic stay  
  • Update internal systems to turn off all automatic payment methods, turn off the auto dialer, and properly note the account to prevent any collection activity  
  • Use PACER (federal court database) to identify how the debtor intends to treat Progressive as part of the Bankruptcy  
  • Identify whether Progressive’s debt is scheduled as secured, unsecured, or an unexpired lease. This requires the Bankruptcy Paralegal Level I to understand the case information, legal language included in the petition, and general bankruptcy concepts  
  • Properly transfer new case information and scheduling information to the appropriate Bankruptcy Paralegal Level IIs and IIIs for further action  
  • Support the Bankruptcy Paralegal Level IIs and IIIs with administrative tasks that include:  
  • Process bankruptcy filings  
  • File pertinent documents with the appropriate courts  
  • Answer telephone calls  
  • Assist customers with payment arrangements  
  • This position requires a detail-oriented, accurate person who works well with others, thrives in a quick-paced environment, and is able to retain a high volume of information  

   

YOU’LL BRING:  

  • 2+ years of experience in an office or professional setting preferred   
  • High school diploma and some college preferred  
  • Interest in analyzing data and patterns, with the ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound decision-making  
  • Superb attention to detail, and written and verbal communications skills  
  • Excellent priority setting skills with the flexibility and adaptability to respond to shifting business needs  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills  
  • High professional standards and strong customer experience mentality with an energetic, positive attitude to build partnerships, relationships, and trust easily
