Job description

The EUC Curriculum for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine has been designed to ensure that graduate attributes are fully compliant with the EU Directives, aimed that all graduates demonstrate Day One Competencies for Veterinarians as described in the Standard Operating Procedures of the European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training (ESEVT), which is managed by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) in association with the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE).

The five-year curriculum of the Veterinary Program at European University Cyprus is a competency-based integrated spiral-design curriculum. A key feature of the program is its great level of integration at all levels during the progression towards the degree. Content, teaching, learning, and assessment activities form a cohesive framework in the program, ultimately allowing all graduates to demonstrate competency levels for Day One after graduation.

The EUC School of Medicine currently seeks to recruit qualified academics at any academic rank for its Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, in the following disciplines:

  • Animal Physiology
  • Veterinary Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
  • Veterinary Immunology
  • Veterinary Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases
  • Animal Reproduction and Reproductive Disorders
  • Animal Husbandry - Production and Applied Nutrition
  • Veterinary Public Health - Epidemiology
  • Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • Veterinary Clinical Pathology
  • Veterinary Surgery - Surgical Anatomy
  • Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging - Comparative Anatomy
  • Companion Animal Medicine
  • Farm Animal Medicine
  • Veterinary Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine

Qualifications required:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (preferably with a PhD) or a holder of PhD with relevant expertise
  • Fluent in English (for all disciplines) and Greek (for clinical disciplines)

Former Teaching Experience:

  • For the rank of Lecturer substantial proof of competence in teaching and research is required
  • For the rank of Assistant Professor at least 3 years of continuous academic and research experience in renowned academic institutions is required
  • For the rank of Associate Professor at least 8 years of continuous academic and research experience in renowned academic institutions is required
  • For the rank of Professor at least 12 years of continuous academic and research experience in renowned academic institutions is required

The qualifications that can substitute the Doctorate for the election and promotion in the field of Veterinary Medicine are:

  • For the rank of Lecturer: (i) the candidate holds a post of Lecturer or a higher academic post, in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University, or (ii) holds a diploma in Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Medicine specialty and at least three years of work experience after obtaining a diploma in Veterinary Medicine, at a recognized Veterinary Medicine School, or at a recognized Research Institution (Institute).
  • For the rank of Assistant Professor: the candidate (i) holds a post of Assistant Professor or a post of higher rank in a Veterinary Medicine specialty or a recognized University or a post of Lecturer in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University, having at least three years’ experience in it, or (ii) holds a diploma in Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Medicine specialty and at least six years of work experience after obtaining a diploma in Veterinary Medicine, at a recognized Veterinary Medicine School, or at a recognized Research Institution (Institute).
  • For the rank of Associate Professor: the candidate (i) holds a post of Associate Professor or a post of a higher academic rank, in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University or a post of Assistant Professor in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University, having at least four years’ experience in it, or (ii) holds a diploma in Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Medicine specialty and at least ten years of work experience, after obtaining a diploma in a recognized Veterinary Medicine School or at a recognized Research Institution (Institute).
  • For the rank of Professor: the candidate (i) holds a post of Professor, in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University or a post of Associate Professor in a Veterinary Medicine specialty of a recognized University, having at least four years’ experience in it or (ii) the candidate holds a diploma in Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Medicine specialty and at least thirteen years of work experience after obtaining a diploma in Veterinary Medicine, at a recognized Veterinary Medicine School or at a recognized Research Institution (Institute).
