AACOM (American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine) is seeking a full-time Information Technology (IT) Specialist to provide comprehensive technical support to AACOM staff. The IT Specialist will ensure the smooth operation and security of our IT systems, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and implement emerging technologies to support AACOM’s mission.

Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

In this role, the IT Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff for computer-related issues. You will assess, maintain, and enhance the functionality and efficiency of IT systems, ensuring they meet the organization’s needs. A critical aspect of the position includes implementing and monitoring security measures to safeguard organizational data and information. Additionally, you will be expected to install, configure, and update hardware and software as required. You will also forecast and report on costs associated with updating or replacing IT systems and software. Staying updated on emerging technologies and evaluating their potential for improving organizational processes is another key function. The IT Specialist will conduct staff training sessions on the effective use of IT systems and tools and will develop and maintain user-friendly documentation and guides for staff. You will also support the Application Analyst in managing AACOM’s Association Management System (AMS). Finally, the IT Specialist may be asked to perform other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

WHO WE NEED 

Our ideal team member will have the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or a related technical field. 
  • Strong understanding of modern operating systems and cloud service providers. 
  • Proficiency in Office 365. 
  • Experience with setting up and managing local area networks (LAN). 
  • Basic proficiency in at least one programming language. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in technical tasks. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution skills. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, fostering positive relationships with staff. 
  • Minium of 2 years’ experience in IT support preferred 
  • 1 year of experience in network administration or management preferred  
  • Hands-on experience with two or more of the following preferred: 
    • Office 365 
    • WordPress 
    • Microsoft Dynamics 
    • Association Management Systems 
    • Video conferencing tools (e.g., WebEx, Zoom, Teams) 
    • VoIP systems 
  • Relevant certifications preferred in one or more areas such as: 
    • CompTIA A+ 
    • Network administration (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) 
    • Cloud services (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Cloud+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position with health, dental, vacation and 403(b) benefits. The hourly rate for this position is $34 to $36 per hour.
