Job description

This is a remote position.

About the Client:
 The Client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper who will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with Australian taxation regulations. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in bookkeeping, a keen eye for detail, and extensive experience with Australian accounting standards and tax requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 
·        Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

·        Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
·        Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial records.
·        Prepare and lodge BAS (Business Activity Statements) and IAS (Income Activity Statements).
·        Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
·        Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations and guidelines.
·        Manage payroll processing, including superannuation contributions, PAYG withholding, and employee entitlements.
·        Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
·        Provide support during tax audits and assist with the preparation of tax returns.
·        Liaise with clients, providing excellent customer service and resolving any financial queries.
·        Stay updated with changes in Australian tax laws and accounting standards
 


Requirements
·        Proven experience as a bookkeeper in Australia, with a strong understanding of Australian taxation and accounting processes.
·        Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
·        Strong knowledge of ATO requirements and BAS/IAS preparation.
·        Familiarity with payroll processing and related legislation.
·        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
·        Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
·        Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
