Job description

Role Summary

Our client is an MSP (Managed Services Provider) servicing companies in the Eugene, OR and Oregon general area. They are looking for an L2 Engineer who will troubleshoot, resolve, and document client technical issues and remotely manage clients' Windows environments. They will also provide remote support and troubleshooting for the managed systems as needed.

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time (11:00 PM – 8:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and improve customer IT infrastructure outside of client business hours through comprehensive monitoring and patching of servers, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi APs, and other IT equipment
  • Monitor critical systems from the RMM monitoring console and take corrective actions prior to failure
  • Provide support for new applications and upgrades to existing systems
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document client technical issues
  • Provide remote support, troubleshooting efforts, and remediation in a timely fashion outside of client business hours
  • Assist with new client onboarding projects such as Antivirus and remote monitoring agent rollout and documenting new assets
  • Work and interface with clients through phone/email/ticketing system
  • Perform Windows Service Active Directory/GPO deployment and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot general Windows Server issues
  • Handle backup implementation and maintenance of backup sets
  • Monitor and maintain Hypervisor systems like VMWare, HyperV, and Proxmox
  • Troubleshoot and deploy Windows printer servers
  • Troubleshoot and deploy Windows File Share/DFS
  • Assist with the development, review, and implementation of various SOPs for clients
  • Handle network documentation and asset inventory for client system
  • Contribute actively to ongoing process improvements within company and client networks
  • Assist network engineering teams in specific project tasks as directed
  • Document and report results of resolved overnight issues to the daytime manager

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or a related field), or relevant work experience
  • IT certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco are preferred
  • Experience with Windows-based production environments
  • Experience working in or with the following: MS Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022, managed DNS, MS Active Directory, Hosted or On-Prem MS Exchange, MS Office, managed backup, and AV solutions
  • 2+ Years working in an MSP environment or equivalent
  • Experience in the following is required:
    • Server Hardware troubleshooting
    • Hyper-V or Equivalent and Windows Server roles (AD/DNS/DHCP/IIS)
    • GPO deployment and troubleshooting
    • Implementation and administration of Microsoft 365
    • Backup implementation and management like Veeam, Datto, or equivalent
    • Firewall updates and maintenance like Meraki, Cisco, Fortinet, Sophos, etc.
    • Wireless administration like Ubiquiti
    • VLANs and packet networking troubleshooting
    • WAN and ISP troubleshooting
    • Public DNS management
  • Experience in the following is a plus:
    • Sophos Firewalls
    • VMWare ESXi
    • Autotask PSA and Datto RMM
    • Documentation Tools (IT Glue and Wiki)
    • Cloud Infrastructure Experience (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Excellent customer service, communication, written, and organization skills
  • Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
  • Ability to function in an autonomous environment-independent worker, self-directed
