Job Title: Staff Accountant / Financial Analyst

As part of our growth, we are expanding our team and seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant and Financial Analyst to play a crucial role in our financial operations.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant / Financial Analyst will report directly to the VP of Finance and assist in a variety of accounting and finance-related activities. This includes managing billing, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), tax filing coordination, and monthly close processes. This role will also involve financial analysis and HR-related tasks, including some payroll administration. The ideal candidate will collaborate across multiple departments, ensuring seamless financial operations and supporting the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage customer invoicing and collections, ensuring timely billing and payments.
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Oversee vendor payments and maintain accurate AP records.
  • Monthly Close: Assist in the preparation and execution of monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Tax Filings: Collaborate with the VP of Finance and external tax firm to coordinate and manage tax filings.
  • Payroll Administration: Support payroll processing through Justworks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • HR Support: Provide support with HR-related administrative tasks, including payroll, state compliance and benefits management using Justworks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and other departments to gather and analyze financial data, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Audit Support: Assist in preparing audit schedules and providing necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Processes and Controls: Ensure internal controls are in place and followed, and that accounting records comply with company policies and applicable regulations.

  • Accounting Software: Xero
  • Collaboration Tools: Slack, Google Workspace, Ramp
  • HR/Payroll Software: Justworks
  • Other: Strong proficiency in MS Excel for financial modeling and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field – or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role, preferably in a small to mid-sized business.
  • Familiarity with AR/AP processes, payroll, tax filings, and financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in Xero, MS Excel, Google Workspace, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial data to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with internal controls and compliance with financial regulations.
