The people filling these positions will need flexibility and creative problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to their professions, curriculum, field experience, assessment, accountability, and evaluation.

  • The Associate Dean is a full-time academic administrator, and works closely with the school’s academic administrators, academic program coordinators, academic advising, office of field experience, and administrative staffs, and part-time faculty.
  • Maintains quality and integrity of the program curriculum.
  • Engages in faculty recruitment, orientation, development, mentoring, and evaluation. Organizing activities of specialization coordinators
  • Provides leadership and coordinates projects, processes, and procedures for continuous program improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with other departments (Student Success Advising, Enrollment, Director of Regulatory, Office of Field Experience, Product Management) to ensure coordination and consistency of outcomes across programs.
  • Engages in programmatic accreditation and assessment activities.
  • Participates in College and University committee service; scholarship; and evaluating/assessing the academic programs and student academic performance.
  • Developing and maintaining a community of care amongst faculty and students.
  • Ensures program compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards including completion of required reports
  • Communicates effectively with CON leadership, faculty, staff, and students creating a culture of caring and mutual respect
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • DNP or PhD in Nursing or closely related field with a Master’s in Nursing from an accredited institution is required.
  • Holds an active, unencumbered RN license in good standing.
  • Five (5)+ years of leadership experience at the degree level of the program required.
  • Three (3) years of doctoral-level teaching experience, distance learning/online experience preferred.
  • Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs preferred.
  • Faculty Members must maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue to teach at Walden University preferred.
  • Faculty Members are also expected to maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations preferred.
  • If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University preferred.
  • Candidates should possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of nursing, including clinical practice experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Knowledge of specialized nursing accreditation and accountability processes as appropriate.
  • Experience with nursing curriculum development, revision, and assessment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and work remotely
  • Experience with DNP scholarly projects and PhD dissertation committees and processes.
  • Experience with field placement, processes, preceptor, and student evaluations.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that emphasizes collaboration and personal accountability.
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment including students who are experienced professionals.
  • Teaching, advising, and mentoring; commitment to inclusive teaching and learning; experience with online learning platforms and student engagement strategies.
  • Commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty; excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
  • Candidates should also have experience in faculty/staff development, supervision, evaluation, and assessment.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
