Job Description:

The BaSE Maintenance Specialist supports the protection of UPS assets and facilities. He/she assists with the maintenance and continued improvement of UPS electrical / electromechanical systems on measuring equipment (DWS, EDS, IDS, weighing scales) and sortation system. He / she troubleshoots, calibrates, analyses and adjusts Automated Dimensioning Weighing Systems as necessary to maintain optimal performance of Plant Equipment. He / she Responds to calls regarding failures and breakdowns, performs the coordination (including on-site presence if needed) to have them addressed and expedites their completion and resolution. Proactively identifies equipment or parts that are the cause of system defects, and takes action accordingly. Spare part inventory for automated sites will also be his/her responsibility. The BaSE Maintenance Specialist plays a key role in UPS in ensuring the sort process is a continuous, non-interrupted process that allows parcels to be sorted effectively and efficiently, ensuring service to the customers in an optimal way. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the Electrical / Electronic maintenance on the Control Panels that governs the functionality of the system. This includes MCPs (Main Control Panels), LCPs (Local Control Panels), CIPs (Communication Interface Panels), RIO (Remote Input / Output), JB (Junction Boxes), VFD’s, PLC’s and referent wiring as well.
 

This position will combine the individual’s technical knowledge (electrical and mechanical MBO level-4 degree minimum, bachelor preferred) and analytical skills to support an Automated Sortation System and human skills to lead a team of educated technicians. Due to the nature of the activities that need to be performed, which involve among others carrying parts, working with powered tools, electronic equipment, walking large distances per day (including different levels of the facility he/she is working in), assuming difficult postures to reach remote places of the system and lifting of heavy equipment, it’s imperative that the Maintenance Specialist is of good physical condition to do his / her work safe and effective.

What you’ll need

  • Technical degree in electrical-electronic (Software) engineering (minimum MBO level-4, bachelor preferred)
  • Electrical and electronics knowledge
  • Able of facilitating trainings and motivating the team.
  • Knowledge of automated conveyor systems
  • Knowledge on PLC’s (Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley)
  • Able to read, interpret and troubleshoot by using electrical drawings
  • Able to work under high pressure; if a conveyor is down during the sort process, this can influence the time of finish and, therefore the productivity and the time a package gets to a customer.
  • Flexible to work additional hours and change working hours if needed
  • Ability to self-manage the works assigned and execute with a high level of detail.
  • Excellent computer skills; able to work effectively using Windows, Microsoft Office, SOPAS, PLC Software (Step 7 as an example)
  • Language skills: Able to communicate verbally and in writing in English (mandatory), Dutch is a plus
  • Capable of following guidelines from his Supervisors
