Founded in 2015 and investing out of our third fund, SureSwift Capital buys and holds B2B software companies. We partner with Founders of well-run software companies to provide them with cash exits and a home for their product, team, and customers. 

Historically we’ve focused on buyouts with a focus on SaaS companies generating $1-5M in ARR. We are a small but mighty team working remotely around the world. We are looking to fill this position in the US or Canada.  

About the role 

SureSwift’s M&A team is looking to hire an Associate or Senior Associate (title based on experience) to work across all aspects of the investment lifecycle including sourcing and origination, due diligence, deal structuring, and post-investment portfolio company support.  

Candidates should be fast learners with a unique blend of situational judgment, attention to detail, and strong client relationship management experience. We are looking for someone that brings exceptional networking abilities, financial analysis experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, hustle, and emotional intelligence.

This role has three main areas of focus: 

  1. Source and evaluate new investment opportunities,  

  1. Lead deals through to completion, including being responsible for post-investment support to our portfolio companies 

  1. Help with other firm-building activities 

Your Responsibilities 

1. Source and evaluate new investment opportunities 

SureSwift is fortunate to receive a high volume of inbound opportunities to evaluate, but we also spend time identifying new market perspectives and proactively sourcing outbound investment opportunities. In this role, you will:  

  • Source new investment opportunities, including proactively identifying and reaching out to companies in sectors that we like. 

  • Build and maintain key relationships with founders and other ecosystem participants like accelerators, industry groups, and investors. 

  • Work with the Director on evolving SureSwift’s referral network. 

  • Help build SureSwift’s reputation through content, events, and other related activities. 

  • Compare notes with peers at other VC and PE firms. 

  • For inbound opportunities, you will:   

  • Maintain relationships with select M&A advisors, brokers, investment banks.  

  • Evaluate a broad array of software companies or other technology investments that may fit our investment thesis.  

  • Champion promising companies through the investment process as a “Deal Lead” to dive deeper on 

2. Lead deals through to completion, including being responsible for post-investment support to our portfolio companies. In this role, you will:  

  • Own the deal and perform investment due diligence  

  • Prepare investment memorandums 

  • Financial modeling and analysis 

  • Investment thesis development 

  • Market research 

  • Customer interviews and reference checks 

  • Work with other members of the M&A team to make and execute investment decisions 

  • Draft Letters of Intent (LOI’s) 

  • Negotiate terms with the selling founder or CEO 

  • Create post-closing forecasts and growth plans. 

  • Work with third parties for financial, technical, legal due diligence. 

  • Help oversee financial and legal processes for new investments 

  • Partner with our Operations team to monitor and work closely with portfolio companies, post-investment. 

  • Attend monthly Basecamp meetings to keep updated on investments. 

  • Monitor portfolio companies post-close to ensure they achieve growth plans 

  • Track company performance and stack rank opportunities for divestiture 

  • Ensure portfolio companies are exit-ready if divestiture opportunities arise 

3. Help with other firm-building activities 

In this role, you'll collaborate cross-functionally with other team members to drive projects to completion, with a "no task too big or too small" demeanor. Projects and ongoing responsibilities might include:  

  • Managing and maintaining our CRM (we use Affinity) and Notion instances 

  • Assisting with preparing team reports 

  • Assisting with new fund thesis development and portfolio modeling 

  • Evolving the investment process and investment artifacts for new deals 

  • Helping plan and prepare for team events 

  • Ad hoc LP communication or requests  

  • Research and writing support  

  • Preparing for and/or leading regular investment team meetings 

  • Following up on action items deemed important by colleagues 

Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for:  

  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience, either at a tech-focused venture capital, growth or private equity firm, in management consulting, investment banking, at a startup, or a blend of prior work experiences 

  • Prior buyside, direct private market investment experience is preferred 

  • A track record of supporting and partnering successfully with founders or operators 

  • A history of synthesizing information and making data-driven decisions 

  • Financial literacy and the ability to analyze investment and market-related data 

  • Digital fluency, a passion for technology, and prior exposure to tech and/or the tech investing ecosystem 

  • A track record of being a standout colleague, with a high sense of urgency balanced with strong attention to detail, quality orientation, and organizational skills 

  • A proven track record to thrive in an unstructured environment through resourcefulness, high efficiency, and work ethic 

  • Outstanding and concise written and verbal communication skills using tools like Notion, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace. 

  • Someone who is comfortable taking initiative to execute work and who will proactively ask for clarification or direction when needed 

  • Outstanding EQ (emotional intelligence) and the ability to anticipate needs and expectations 

  • A sense of humor, empathy for others, confidence with humility, and the desire to win together 

  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with the utmost integrity, and to maintain trusted confidence, with all internal and external partners 


Your Compensation 

The annual salary range for this role is expected to be between $100,000 - $120,000 USD or $130,000 - $155,000 CAD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. This role is also eligible for the company bonus program.
