Position Summary
The Solution Engineer will work alongside our sales team, with current and prospective Commerce, Data and Digital clients across the globe. Your work will span Data Management platforms, technologies, industries, and architectural patterns, Serve customers by identifying their needs, engineering adaptations of solutions, building effective demonstrations, participating in Proof of Value exercises and contributing to opportunities with your technical prowess. While predominantly focused on the Data Management platforms, the role will also expand to support the entire end-to-end capabilities within global organizations that also include ecommerce, supply chain and other leading technologies such as AI.
Solution Engineers must be a trusted advisor asking specific business and technical questions to
uncover a client’s requirements and align Pivotree product offerings and services to our customer and prospect needs. The ideal candidate will have superior communication skills, enjoy consultative selling, and have Data Management experience and have deep understanding of complex ecommerce and digital enterprise solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
Solution Engineer - Data Management
- Understand the intersection between technology, customers, and business and how to
shape conversations with the client to position the company’s solution as the ideal one.
- Map customer vision & requirements to specific digital products and solutions the lead the
transition from the sales process to the delivery phase
- Provide thought leadership, participation in relevant technical, industry bodies and events
- Consult customer stakeholders on digital solutions and enterprise programs and build
relationships
- Stay abreast of current and emerging trends, unique opportunities and challenges of the
space/markets and geographies in which clients operate, and how it affects clients’
business and initiatives
- Partner with sales to plan, prepare and execute strategically to encourage prospective
enterprise clients to invest in our innovative ecommerce solutions and services
- Understand client requirements to best support them and provide optimally customized
solutions
- Contribute to team efficiency and ecommerce practice opportunity traction by covering aspects
of technical requirements Data Management Sales Specialist may not cover
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) during the sales process, becoming the glue between the
application, technology, design and the final solution that meets the business needs of the
client.
- Scope, solution and facilitate estimated work for complex digital and Data Management quotes
to customers
- Translate business and technical requirements into written proposals, quote/configurations,
diagrams, and master service agreements.
- Oversee, create and deliver powerful presentations and demonstrations that clearly explain our
proposed solution
- Participate and oversee Proof of Value (PoV) exercises
- Evangelize the uniqueness of our value proposition
- Manage the technical aspects of SOW contracts and RFP / RFI responses
- Aid the smooth transition of a customer from pre-sales to post-sales implementation
- Work with Account Executives to cross-sell Data Management solutions into our existing
customer base.
- Documenting standards and updating Pivotree knowledge base with collateral to help
accelerate customers through the sales cycle.
- Understand the voice of the customer and relay back customer feedback and industry trends to
our product team and our partners.
- Work with partners to understand and be able to demo their solutions. Build relationships with
partners.
- Become a thought leader in Data Management solutions and be able to communicate the
differentiation of products and services that will give our customers a competitive advantage.
- Effectively execute and promote Pivotree’s Commerce/Data Management Strategy including
assessments and migration frameworks, IT/Digital Transformation, and Technical Onboarding
activities
- Foster a culture of connecting Data Management to the business through a pre-sales lens
Key Skills And Competencies
You have 5+ years’ experience in enterprise software or consulting services, working with IT and
business teams in Global 1000 organizations. While you work independently, possibly from a home or
remote office, you are also capable of collaborating with your peers across our organization, including
sales, professional services, managed services and support, product management, PMO and other
Solution Engineer consultants. A willingness to travel periodically is required. Specific qualifications,
Skills, And Experience Should Include
- Enterprise software and services presales, comfortable selling into global-1000 organizations,
managing multiple projects and deadlines across time zones and teams
Solution Engineer - Data Management
- Must be able to articulate the value of digital across different dimensions including flexibility,
speed to market, cost control, dev ops, etc.
- Deep experience in one or more of the Data Management Platforms such as Stibo, Syndigo
Precisely, Informatica
- Knowledge of eCommerce platforms such as SAP Commerce, VTEX, Shopifyplus, Spryker,
Salesforce Commerce or BigCommerce and Supply Chain solutions such as Fluent, Sterling or
Manhattan is a plus.
- Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy to understand manner
- Knowledge of delivering frictionless commerce for organizations and how Data Management
fits into areas like commerce, supply chain, cloud computing, data governance, order
management and fulfillment, customer relationship management and security.
- Performance-driven and has a bias for action and results — an energetic, highly motivated
person who relishes challenges and tirelessly pursues objectives. Proven track record in
previous positions
- Enthusiastic in learning and supporting other domains/technologies beyond data management
platforms such as commerce, supply chain and other leading edge pivotree solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluency in English
- Bachelor’s degreeBA/BS degree or equivalent (Information Technology, Computer Engineering,
Computer Science or related field)
- Willingness to travel (~20%)
