Job description

Groupon is an experiences marketplace that brings people more ways to get the most out of their city or wherever they may be. By enabling real-time mobile commerce across local businesses, live events and travel destinations, Groupon helps people find and discover experiences––big and small, new and familiar––that make for a full, fun and rewarding life. Groupon helps local businesses grow and strengthen customer relationships––resulting in strong, vibrant communities. With employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. Our culture encourages employees to embrace change, adapt to new circumstances, and find creative solutions to the challenges we face. Does that sound like a great way to grow your career? Let’s get into the details:

The Senior Pricing & Promotions Analyst is a key member of Groupon’s Global Revenue Management team.  The person who fills this role will play a key part in delivering strategic business insights and analytics in support of Groupon’s global operations.

The role requires the ability to pivot quickly between a changing canvas of tools, data pipelines, and reporting requirements, as well as an ability to engage in robust “big picture” cross-functional conversations. This role will require vigilant prioritization and collaboration across various teams to drive change and improve profitability.

Senior leadership will rely on this role to be a go-to data and analytics expert on all aspects of traffic and financial results across Groupon's key channels in relation to promotional activities. This person will have to be comfortable with the details, while able to summarize the salient points across a wide range of topics.

As Senior Pricing Analyst & Promotions Analyst, you'll be spending your time on the following:

  • Develop and maintain analytical models to optimize pricing strategies and promotional campaigns across various channels.

  • Utilize advanced SQL and other analytical tools to build comprehensive reporting solutions that address critical business questions for senior leadership, finance, marketing, engineering, and other key stakeholders.

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of key performance metrics across distribution channels and traffic sources, identifying opportunities for portfolio optimization at the campaign type (sale vs discount), structure, vertical, and deal levels.

  • Deliver insights about transactional impact analysis and downstream value as key concepts to understand campaign performance at customer/segment level.

  • Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to gain deep insights into critical data assets and data pipelines, enabling the enhancement of analytical processes.

  • Dive into raw and aggregated internal data to evaluate drivers, including customer purchase patterns, seasonality impacts, traffic channel productivity (Managed vs Paid), and other essential business objectives. Make recommendations based on observations.

  • Engage in "big picture" cross-functional discussions, working closely with stakeholders to define short, medium, and long-term implications of key analyses in areas such as Revenue Management, Product, Marketing, Relevance, and Finance.

We're excited about you if you have:

  • 7+ years of relevant business experience, preferably in an analytically rigorous role.

  • 3+ years experience in pricing or promotion analytics is a requirement.

  • Ability to manipulate data and derive insights from complex datasets.

  • Experience with the Google Workplace Suite is a plus; expertise in spreadsheet analytics is a must.

  • Expert knowledge of SQL.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead data-driven operational process change.

  • Strategic program development and big-picture thinking in consumer e-commerce data/analytic initiatives.

  • Familiarity with key business metrics – solid analytical expertise, familiarity with multivariate testing frameworks a plus.

  • Proven problem-solving skills; systematic, analytical thinker and a lot of curiosity.

  • Bias for action: Analysis > Insight > Action.

  • Comfortable working in a fully English-speaking environment, with excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or equivalent required.
