Job Summary

As a Network Reliability Engineer, you will resolve network problems related to our global Content Delivery Network. Your technical talent and problem-solving skills will help us provide superior performance on our CDN. Your ability to identify issues and communicate with other escalation teams will help stop/prevent customer impact. You will be expected to be a contributing team member, adding to our knowledge base, updating our processes, and supporting each other. We staff a 24/7 operation which requires shift work.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the world’s fastest, most reliable content delivery network, which includes thousands of servers, applications, and network devices for some of the biggest sites on the internet, using a robust suite of custom-built monitoring tools and systems.
  • Monitoring the performance, reliability, and stability of the entire global network infrastructure on a 24/7 basis. Ensuring company-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKR) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) objects are met.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and network hardware issues. This may include coordinating with third-party vendors, data center remote hand technicians, customer contacts, internal escalation teams, or other business units in order to reach a holistic solution.
  • Maintaining knowledge continuity among peers and internal escalation teams. This includes updating internal knowledge bases with new processes and procedures.
  • Actively involved in identifying and communicating opportunities for automation and optimization of our monitoring tasks and processes.
  • Administers trouble tickets according to established guidelines, standards, and procedures. Ensures content accurately reflects all incident response efforts. Independently makes decisions regarding the next steps involved in incident response.
  • Maintains mastery of established standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Continual career and knowledge development, technical curiosity, and a desire to grow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 2+ years professional experience working as a NOC Engineer, Desktop Support, or Jr. NET Admin role.
  • Solid experience monitoring enterprise-level infrastructure using various internal and 3rd party monitoring tools.
  • Experience maintaining, managing, and monitoring Network hardware such as Juniper, Cisco, and Arista.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and internet protocols along with a practical understanding of Internet routing and related networking technologies.
  • Understanding of Data Center environments, cross connects, fiber, and ethernet.
  • Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting using traceroutes, pings, and the OSI network layers. Specifically layers one through three.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently address issues or escalate to other internal support groups when necessary.
  • Experience with ticketing software such as Service Now, BMC Remedy, or Jira.
  • Flexible to work different shifts as needed in a 24/7/365 NOC environment.
  • Familiarity with BGP, IS-IS and other common network protocols.
  • Understanding of DWDM Transport topology.
  • Strong understanding of the Data Center and how to troubleshoot and/or install new equipment.
  • Working Knowledge of a Content Delivery Network or web hosting company
