The Voice Technician is a
specialized role focused on the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
of voice communication systems, including ISDN, VoIP, VoSIP, and
teleconferencing devices within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This
position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or an
equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience.
The candidate should have at least 3 years of related Voice Technician
experience and be familiar with TCP/IP protocol suite, MAC and IP addresses. An
active Secret Clearance is also required for this role.
This position is contingent
upon contract award.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
· Configure,
maintain, and troubleshoot data network and telephony systems, ensuring
reliable operation in line with DoD processes and standards.
· Provide solid
customer service and support in a high-visibility environment, addressing and
resolving issues promptly.
· Understand and
apply fundamental knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, including familiarity
with MAC and IP addresses.
· Perform problem
analysis and problem-solving for voice communication system issues.
· Maintain detailed
and accurate records of configurations, maintenance procedures, and
troubleshooting steps.
Requirements
Education and/or
Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree
in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education,
technical training, or work experience.
· 3+ years of
related Voice Technician experience.
· 3+ years of
related IT/telecommunications experience working within the DoD environment.
Certifications,
Licenses, Registrations:
· • One or more active network
certifications or related Telephony Certifications from Avaya, Nortel,
AT&T, etc.
Security
Clearance:
· Must maintain an
active Secret Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities:
· In-depth
knowledge of voice communication systems, including ISDN, VoIP, VoSIP, and
teleconferencing devices.
· Strong customer
service and support skills, with the ability to interact effectively in a high
visibility environment.

addresses.

Work Environment:
This position will be
primarily on-site at the Pentagon Reservation, where the Voice Technician will
work within secure facilities and must comply with all security protocols. The
role may involve working in various environments, including office settings and
telecommunications rooms. While the opportunity to work from home may be
available, it is not guaranteed and will depend on the specific requirements of
the role and managerial discretion.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this
role include the ability to move and handle tools and materials, work with fine
components, and operate testing equipment. The technician must be able to see
and differentiate colors for cable identification and perform physical tasks
associated with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of voice
communication systems.
